Jew - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 2,000 year dispersion of the Jewish diaspora beginning under the Roman Empire, as Jews were spread throughout the Roman world and, driven from land to land, and settled wherever they could live freely enough to practice their religion.
No new books were added to the Jewish Bible after the Roman period, instead major efforts went into interpreting and developing the Halakhah, or oral law, and writing down these traditions in the Talmud, the key work on the interepretation of Jewish law, written during the first to fifth centuries CE.
Following the destruction of Jerusalem and the expulsion of the Jews, Jewish worship stopped being centrally organized around the Temple, and instead was rebuilt around rabbis who acted as teachers and leaders of individual communities.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Jewish Calendar
According to the current Jewish reckoning the calendar is dated from the Creation of the World, which is considered to have taken place 3760 years and 3 months before the commencement of the Christian Era.
Of its twelve names now found in the Jewish calendar only seven occur in the Hebrew text, but the whole twelve appear as the main divisions of the Megillath Ta'anith (Scroll of Fasting), which in its original form is referred to a date before the Christian Era.
The Hebrew year thus far described is one constituted in harmony with ritual requirements, and hence it is called the sacred Jewish year.

And the righteous among the nations that carried into practise the seven fundamental laws of the covenant with Noah and his descendants were declared to be participants in the felicity of the hereafter.
The recital of this "Kalimah" is the first of the five pillars of practical religion in Islam, and one converted to Islam must repeat it verbatim; so that among the conditions required of every believer with reference to confession is the duty to repeat it aloud at least once in a lifetime.

The illuminated haggadah is the most popular artistic book in Jewish history.
The commentary includes rabbinic comments on women associated with the Exodus, a discussion of those relevant aspects of Jewish law that apply to women, and homilies -- divrei Torah by women for the seder, many written especially for this volume.
The word "haggadah" means recital -- namely, reciting or telling the story of the Exodus from Egypt -- following the biblical exhortation to tell the next generation the story of the redemption of the Israelites.

 Columbus's Medinah?
Throughout his life he demonstrated a keen knowledge of the Bible and the geography of the Holy Land.
In fact in one place he calculates the date from the destruction of the "Second House" [=Temple], counting from the traditional (and erroneous) Jewish date of 68 C.E., rather than the generally held 70.
Some of the most important arguments are however summarized in the relevant entry in the Encyclopedia Judaica, written by the encyclopedia's editor-in-chief Cecil Roth.
