The Greek roots of the term "Catholic" mean "according to (kata-) the whole (holos)," or more colloquially, "universal." At the beginning of the second century, we find in the letters of Ignatius the first surviving use of the term "Catholic" in reference to the Church.
"I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
However, because they are accepting and following the doctrines of the catholic and apostolic Church, it is fitting that they acknowledge this in writing before all; that is, both that they communicate with the twice married and with those who have lapsed during a persecution" (Canon 8).

I told them explicitly that I was more than happy to have their daughter attend as often as she wanted, but I assured them that my goal as minister was to encourage people to grow closer to Christ, not steal people away from the parish to which God had led them.

 What is the nature of life?
In spite of Roman Catholic Church's public proclamation that life begins at conception, in the Catholic Encyclopedia (which they, themselves declare to be Catholic teachings) there is no clear definition of what life is or when it begins.
Are these the same people who propose the use of police power to force everyone to live under the Catholic religious fairytale regarding when life begins.
But what we don't find, is a clear definition of the word "life," and we don't find any answers to the questions they pose.
