Zaiddiyah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Twelvers believe it was Muhammad al-Baqir, while Zaidis hold that it was his half-brother, Zayd ibn Ali.
Zaiddiyah (also: Zaidi, Zaydi, Zaydiyah, or in the West Fivers) Zaidis are the descendants of Zayd ibn Ali and Zaydiyah is a sect of the followers of Zayd as imam.
Zaidis also do not believe that the Imamate must pass from father to son, but believe it can be held by any descendant of Ali.

Sunnis and Zaidis alike reject the Imami and Ismaili belief that Imams are entitled to absolute power and possess a complete knowledge of all sciences (for instance, juridical, theological and exegetical).
Zaidis reject this idea of successional designation: for them, anyone of the right pedigree can make a claim for the post of Imam, even when that means challenging an Imam incumbent.
The second ritual Imamis instituted is the annual commiseration of the passion of the Prophet's grandson and their third Imam, Husayn ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib, who was tragically martyred at Karbalā’ on Ashura, in the month of muharram (taziya).

It is true that the Zaidi sect permits the resistance of their rulers, but this was in the past, when there were no means of peaceful change.

The true Zaidi Sect has now no religious figures at all and is being manipulated by Yemeni Hadaoists who are originally vehement followers of extremist Hadaoism which was founded by the so-called “Al-Hadi Yahya Bin Alhussein” who found in Yemen a fertile haven because Persians were in control.
Hadaoists or Sayyids believe in TOQIAH which allows them to deceive, allege and wear many faces in order to attain their ends and thus one sees nowadays that some of them are siding with the president and others are against him.
Zaidism is embraced by Non-Sayyid Arabs of the northern highlands who are moderate and do not have an aspiration to power but are obedient followers of their local tribal chieftains.
