Rudhyar wrote that the sidereal zodiac, the zodiac of constellations, was a product of the myth-making faculty of the human psyche.
But precession correction is one thing, a separate sidereal zodiac with delineations for the 12 signs closely resembling those for the tropical zodiac (and using the same names) is a much bigger problem, however solvable on an individual basis through the magic of Mercury and Neptune the case may be.

 Sidereal vs. Tropical Astrology
The Tropical Zodiac used in Western Astrology is a Symbolic Zodiac based upon the position of the planets and constellations as they were in the sky 2000 years ago.
The Sidereal zodiac is the real zodiac as it actually appears in the sky at any given moment.
Although the Sidereal Zodiac was used by Western Astrologers like Ptolemy in the beginning, over the course of time a more symbolic zodiac was adopted which is astronomically inaccurate.

The signs of the sidereal zodiac, also called the fixed zodiac, are located in different places from those of the tropical zodiac (or 'moveable zodiac'), though at certain points in history, most notably around 221 A.D., they have happened to coincide with them temporarily.
It is important not to attempt to interpret placements of the planets etc. in the signs of the tropical zodiac using sources on their placement in the signs of the sidereal zodiac that bear the same names, or vice versa.
The cyclical revolution of the tropical zodiac about the fixed zodiac does not compromise or weaken the astrological influence of the tropical signs, which at any point in history operates independently of the positons of the constellations sharing their names.

The Egyptians had a tropical (solar) calendar by the early part of the third millennium B.C.; given the direct and transparent relationship between the signs of the tropical zodiac and the months of the solar year, they may well have had a tropical zodiac as well.
Tropical calendars in the form of standing stones (e.g., Stonehenge) date from 1000-5000 B.C. in Northwest Europe, so the tropical zodiac might have existed there as well.
This argument is based on the presupposition that the meanings of the signs come from the natures of the symbols in the heavens that we call constellations.

TAARP - One Good Reason Why Science Condemns Natal Astrology
Maybe the tropical zodiacal menstruum is in part determined by the minds of all the individuals who have conceptualized the tropical zodiac over a period of thousands of years.
The gist of the argument deals with the difference between the tropical zodiac, which is utilized in tropical natal astrology, which is itself what the great majority of astrologers and astrology are about, and the sidereal zodiac, which is primarily the provenance of astronomers.
Maybe there is a graded or graduated menstruum of some kind that forms the essence of the tropical zodiacal wheel that is based strictly on the equinoctial sun/point of birth line as a beginning and the direction indicated heretofore.

The Ancient Sky presents: Tropical or Sidereal, the constant question
On the contrary, the tropical zodiac is firmly planted in a Sun/Moon relationship, and simply divides the sky by 30-degree sectors, according to its mathematicians, who saw fit to “correct” their math with a nip and a tuck for latitude or longitudinal differences.
The sidereal zodiac is a measurement which finds the zodiac, star by star, to its position, no matter what relationship it has to our elliptical view of it.
As far as the adding or subtracting of another constellation into the very antique, extremely well-established zodiac (which, while we still have the Greek dictionary out) means "circle of animals", we are constantly barraged by a crowd of naysayers and fix-it types who want to "correct" this circle to their personal whim.

Signs of the Zodiac: What Are They?
The zodiac at this period in history was plainly sidereal, and the exaltations and triangles (four groups of three signs each now associated with the four elements) were in place.
A primary difficulty with this zodiac is that astrologers throughout the world don't agree on which stars define the Sidereal zodiac.
Because the area of overlap between the zodiacs at present is only 1/5 of a sign, and harmonic effects would diminish toward the ends of signs, it is very difficult to judge which zodiac might be the most accurate when only personal opinion and observation are used for measurement.

Since the theory never says that anything does or does not exist, only that a probability for it to exist exists, this is equivalent to saying that if a form exists in mathematical potential, it will also exist (some of the time) in matter.
To understand the theoretical basis of the zodiac we must first start with a review of the geometry of the rational division of circles.
This too is in some way consistent with the Greek understanding of aspects wherein the aspect apparently existed as a point in space which a planet would then conjoin.
