Topic: Translation of the Qur'an

 USC-MSA Compendium of Muslim Texts
Note that any translation of the Qur'an immediately ceases to be the literal word of Allah, and hence cannot be equated with the Qur'an in its original Arabic form.
The Qur'an of today is the same as the Qur'an revealed to Muhammad (saas).
Unlike the Sunnah, the Qur'an is quite literally the Word of Allah, whereas the Sunnah was inspired by Allah but the wording and actions are the Prophet's.

 Reply to tektonics
The Quran is the Divine commentary of the Bible.
While the English translation of the Quran can be questioned, the Arabic Quran has stood the test of time, while a new Bible edition/version is made every year as tectonic translation shifts are still trying to settle millenniums later, over 300 words in the new Bibles are being translated differently from previous Bibles, and counting.
Qur'anic verses are then cited to confirm that the various sins discussed in the Bible concerning these men are either not mentioned, or are "corrected," by the Qur'an.

The Quran (Qur'an or Koran) is the holy book of Islam, the word of Allah revealed to the prophet Muhammad.
The subjects of Quran contain God, creation, prophets from Adam to Jesus, Muhammad as a preacher and as a leader, Islam as a faith and as a code of life, society, law.
The principal doctrine in the Quran is that only one God and one true faith exist.

It is repeatedly asserted in the quran QurŸån that it is 'an Arabic quran QurŸån'; and this implies that the quran QurŸån is not merely in the Arabic language but is also expressed in terms of the conceptions familiar to the Arabs.
Secondly, even those who accept the doctrine that the quran QurŸån is the uncreated speech of God may properly study 'sources' in the sense of external influences on the thinking of the Arabs in muhammad Muøammad's time.

Translations of the Holy Quran: Tried and True?
Both words were translated interchangeably as "could" or "was able to" by Sale, Muhammad Ali, Pickthall, Rodwell and others, all of whom overlooked the delicate difference in meaning between the two words.
Those who have tried to translate the Quran from its Arabic original have found it impossible to express the same wealth of ideas with a limited number of words in the new language.
A number of translations have also been made by born Muslims, among them Abdul-Hakim Khan in 1905, Mirza Abul-Fazl in 1911, Mohammad Ali in 1916 and Abdullah Yusuf Ali in 1938 [1934].

Like other Qadiyanis, Zafarullah too twists the Quranic verses to opine that the door of prophethood was not closed with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hence, the Muslim decision to present a faithful translation of the Quranic text as well as an authentic summary of its teaching to the European world.
Averse to take some Quranic statements literally, Asad denies the occurrence of such events as the throwing of Abraham into the fire, Jesus speaking in the cradle, etc. He also regards Luqman, Khizr and Zulqarnain as 'mythical figures' and holds unorthodox views on the abrogation of verses.

Translation: The Quran Versus The Bible
Mohammed taught that the Qur’an’s ability to "explain in detail," to "explain without any crookedness," and its overall "understandability" and usefulness are all attributed to its being delivered in the Arabic language.
At the very least, it is contradictory for Muslims to argue that the Bible is inferior to the Qur’an as a result of translation.
It is hypocritical for Muslims to argue that translation processes corrupted only the Bible, and had no corrupting influences on the Qur’an.
