 Dining with Jesus
Such is the case with the so-called Lords supper or the last supper of Jesus.
The dessert to this Last Supper is yet to come: The three evangelists' who do include the last supper cannot agree on which happened first: The drinking from the cup or the eating of the bread.
This makes the omission of the same declaration at a last supper even more curious for this is only when the other evangelists mention the introduction of the ritual.

HEINRICH BULLINGER - LoveToKnow Article on HEINRICH BULLINGER
His controversies on the Lords Supper with Luther, and his correspondence with Lelio Sozini (see Soc,uus), exhibit, in different connections, his admirable mixture of dignity and tenderness.
With Calvin he concluded (1549) the Consensus Tigurinus on the Lords Supper.
A strong writer and thinker, his spirit was essentially unifying and sympathetic, in an age when these qualities won little sympathy.

Upon notice from the Lords to the Commons, of their desire that the Commons would join with them in their vote for King, Lords, and Commons; the Commons did concur and voted that all books whatever that are out against the Government of King, Lords, and Commons, should be brought into the House and burned.
My Lord and many others went on board her, where every thing was out of order, and a new chimney made for my Lord in his bed- chamber, which he was much pleased with.
My Lord told me clearly his thoughts that the King would carry it, and that he did not think himself very happy that he was now at sea, as well for his own sake, as that he thought he might do his country some service in keeping things quiet.

Samuel Pepys Diary January 1666 complete
After dinner to my Tangier accounts and there stated them against to-morrow very distinctly for the Lords to see who meet tomorrow, and so to supper and to bed.
So after going to the Swan in the Palace, and sent for Spicer to discourse about my last Tangier tallys that have some of the words washed out with the rain, to have them new writ, I home, and there did some business and at the office, and so home to supper, and to bed.
Thence to the office, where the Houblans and we discoursed upon a rubb which we have for one of the ships I hoped to have got to go out to Tangier for them.

 Old Landmarkism
Baptist Churches that practice intercommunion have no guardianship over the Lords Supper, which is divinely enjoined upon them to exercise.
They have church members, church conferences, church discipline, but no church communion; and, therefore, no scripturally observed Lord’s Supper, and, therefore, none at all, as I have shown in Chapter VII.
Baptist Churches that practice intercommunion have practically no communion of their own.

BUTLER - LoveToKnow Article on BUTLER
From the early years of the 14th century the Ormonde earls, generation by generation, were called to the chief government of Ireland as lords-keeper, lords-lieutenant, deputies or lordsjustices, and unlike their hereditary enemies the Geraldines they kept a tradition of loyalty to the English crown and to English custom.
Earl James was poisoned at a supper in Ely House in 1546, and Thomas the Black Earl, his son and heir, was brought up at the English court, professing the reformed religion.
His son and heir, James the Lame, who had been created Viscount Thurles on the 2nd of January 153 5/6, obtained an act of parliament in 1543/4 which, confirming the grant to his father of the earldom, gave him the old pre-eminence of the ancient earldom of 1328.

Guardian Unlimited Arts features Why the Macclesfield Psalter is worth the £1.7m paid to keep it here
Here are fiery Last Judgments and romantic chivalrous assignations - here, in an early 15th-century manuscript probably commissioned by a French nobleman imprisoned (obviously quite comfortably) in Britain during the hundred years' war, is a portrait of Geoffrey Chaucer reading Troilus and Cressida to an audience of lords and ladies in a fantasy pastoral landscape.
Its simple drawings of the Last Supper, the Agony in the Garden and other episodes in the Passion of Christ are piteous and moving.
Here is a manuscript made for Charlemagne's imperial court, whose golden letters are set against a subtle imitation of the purple marble of ancient Rome.

GUNPOWDER PLOT - LoveToKnow Article on GUNPOWDER PLOT
Monteagle at once started for Whitehall, found Salisbury and other ministers about to sit down to supper, and showed the letter, whereupon it was decided to search the cellar under the House of Lords before the meeting of parliament, but not too soon, so that the plot might be ripe and be fully disclosed.
The steps taken by Salisbury after the discovery of the gunpowder do not show the possession of any information of the plot or of the persons who were its chief agents outside Fawkess first statement, and his knowledge is seen to develop according to the successive disclosures and confessions of the latter.
The opinion that the whole plot was the work of Salisbury, that he acted as an agent provocateur and lured on his victims to destruction, repeated by some contemporary and later writers and recently formulated and urged with great ability, has no solid foundation.

 Mary Queen of Scots
Earlier Bothwell had held a supper party for several of the Scottish lords, where he persuaded them to sign a bond requesting that the Queen of Scots marry him.
Of Mary Queen of Scots, the historian Gordon Donaldson observes: “She must never be thought of as the maker of her own destiny, for her fortunes were shaped at least as much by events as by any qualities or defects in her character, or by anything she did or left undone.
One of the most fascinating figures in history, Mary Queen of Scots was born in Linlithgow, Scotland on 8 December 1542.

Froissart: The Constable Remains in His Office
After the supper which the king had given on the Wednesday to these lords, and when they had retired, the constable of France remained to converse with the king and his uncles.
"Very dear lord," replied the constable, "you will be so well attended by such valiant men, all having been settled with the greatest deliberation, that it cannot any way be amended, so that you and your council ought to be satisfied with it.
To this the king only answered, "Constable, I will it be so: in God's name, and in the name of St. Denis, act as becomes your office.

 King Magnus Barefoot
Magnus was sitting at supper one day with his chief men, and their talk ran on the beautiful shrine of Olaf the Saint, which was the wonder of its age.
Magnus, great nephew of Olaf the Saint, was King of Norway in the days when the Norwegian Kings were Lords over Mann, and he was called by the name of Barefoot.
Magnus made peace on those terms and so the Norse Kings gained the Southern Isles, among which they counted the peninsula of Cantyre, because Magnus, sitting at the helm, caused his great warship to be dragged across the neck of land which joins it to the mainland.

The seventy decrees of the council begin with a confession of faith directed against the Cathari and Waldenses, which is significant if only for the mention of a transubstantiation of the elements in the Lords Supper.
, the ecclesiastical councils or synods held at Rome in the Lateran basilica which was dedicated to Christ under the title of Salvator, and further called the basilica of Constantine or the church of John the Baptist.
The theory that it is possible for a thing to be theologically true and philosophically false, and the doctrine of the mortality of the human soul, were both repudiated; while a three years tithe on all church property was set apart to provide funds for a war against the Turks.
