This afternoon as I returned, the army had blocked the road up to the top of the hill so we had even further to walk than when it was long before, and then a bloody great tank appeared with soldier sticking out the top of the turret.
It took some people an hour to cross, and at one stage they moved the checkpoint a little further up the road so some people got stopped twice on the same road.

There were around 150 civilians trying to pass the roadblock but the soldiers wouldn’t let them, preferring instead to provoke them and shoot at them.
While walking back, an Israeli military jeep came storming out of nowhere turning the peaceful road into a battle field and people started running for their lives, men with goods, women with their children horrified and clutching at their mother’s skirts, students with books and lost people trying to find refuge.

On May 29, all activities at Birzeit University once again came to a halt, after the Israeli army blocked the only road leading to Birzeit village from Ramallah, where most of the University's students and teachers reside.
