 Satyagraha Update from Ravi Kuchimanchi
The Domkhedi Satyagraha hut is at about 101 mts and people like Juggi living just 2-3 mts above this hut have their fields going down to the Khad river which itself is flooding with Narmada waters.
Since August last year these young people had decided to dedicate themselves to the work in the Narmada villages and as a result this year there were several new directions that people who came from far and near to express solidarity could see.
After spending the night in Hapeswar temple, an ancient and important Siva temple on the Narmada which is at 106 mts height and will be under submergence, we went along with several people pouring in from different regions to the Satyagraha centres in Domkhedi, Maharashtra and Jalsindhi, MP.

Towards an Understanding of the Transformational Nature of Satyagraha by Terri L. Kelly
Gandhi defined Satyagraha as follows: "Its root meaning is holding on to truth, hence truth-force.
In India he preached Satyagraha as the way to the end of political as well as spiritual independence.
It is important to understand the nature of transformation as it manifests in all cultural contexts because transformation of world view is such a critical component of global conflict resolution.

Satyagraha - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have drawn the distinction between passive resistance as understood and practised in the West and satyagraha before I had evolved the doctrine of the latter to its full logical and spiritual extent.
So the doctrine came to mean vindication of Truth, not by infliction of suffering on the opponent but one's own self.
Satyagraha is utter self-effacement, greatest humiliation, greatest patience and brightest faith.

 CHAPTER II
Thus, at the formative level of satyagraha, all means of protest were employed, mobilization was effected through religious faith, and action was taken with voluntary consent and a willingness to suffer.
In the formation of satyagraha as a means of personal search for truth and as a method of conflict resolution, the South African period of Gandhi’s life is very significant.
All along, Gandhi insisted on the rationale of satyagraha as seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and said that "if through this struggle, we learn better to depend on Him (God) alone, that is sufficient gain in itself, and all else will follow as a matter of course."

Violence, Non-Violence, and Progress in History -- Satyagraha
Beyond Satyagraha faith is laid down, doubt is laid down, good will is laid down, and the thread of genuine progress in history is set aside.
Gandhi expected success from Satyagraha just because of what that term meant to him: "the force of truth." The power of truth is what ultimately persuades every opponent.
Gandhi's Satyagraha is thus not the primary means of non-violent progress; it comes into play in situations of intolerable injustice where words alone are not enough to jar the perpetrators of wrong out of their ways.

Satyagraha literally means "holding on to Truth." [1, xxiv] It may also be "described as love-force, soul-force, or more popularly but less accurately, passive resistance." [3, 45] Gandhi describes the inception of the term in South Africa:
Because Gandhi saw Satyagraha as the guiding force of love and truth in the universe, the vision with which Gandhi led the Satyagraha campaigns involved not just political change but moral and spiritual change in each individual involved.
I therefore corrected it to "Satyagraha." Truth (Satya) implies Love, and Firmness (Agraha) engenders and therefore serves as a synonym for force… that is to say, the Force which is born of Truth and Love or Non-Violence." [1, 77]

The "truth" in Satyagraha is what results when a mutually satisfactory understanding is reached between the targets of a campaign and those "clinging to truth".
