 BBC - Cult - Doctor Who - Episode guide - Season 7
In the event, however, he, Derrick Sherwin and Trevor Ray were all assigned around the beginning of October 1969 to revamp the problematic Paul Temple series.
Although Bryant and Sherwin formally oversaw only the first part of the season (which, consisting of only twenty-five episodes, was by far the shortest to date), their influence was strongly felt throughout.
For another, it was Bryant and Sherwin who had chosen to overhaul the series' format by having the Doctor exiled to Earth and allied with UNIT in a succession of relatively adult-orientated adventures.

A Brief History Of Time (Travel): The Ambassadors Of Death
Assistant script editor Trevor Ray was given the task of revising episode one, and this was sent to Whitaker on August 11th to give him an idea of what the production team wanted from him.
After Whitaker turned in his first two scripts during July, Sherwin decided that the writer's approach was not what he wanted.
The Enemy Of The World, original Doctor Who story editor David Whitaker was approached in 1968 by then-story editor Derrick Sherwin about writing a new six-part story concerning humanity's first present-day encounter with alien life.

CERN Courier - Energy-recovering linacs beg - IOP Publishing - article
The idea of an X-ray synchrotron light source based on ERLs was advocated in 1998 by G Kulipanov, N Vinokurov and A N Skrinsky at BINP, with their pioneering MARS proposal, and later by JLab's Geoffrey Krafft.
In Nature, Mark Sherwin of the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) predicted "new investigations and applications in a wide range of disciplines" (Sherwin 2002).
On a path measuring exactly an integer multiple of the linac RF wavelength plus a half-wavelength, an ERL's accelerated beam travels through an experiment and re-enters the linac to yield back its energy, via the RF field, to the beam being accelerated.

Glossary - exWitch Australia (formerly 'Born Again Pagan')
It was begun as a joke when two prominent authors in the late 1970s, Ray Sherwin and Peter Carroll, published works on Chaos Magick in the name of The Magical Pact of the Illuminates of Thanateros jibing at small magical orders with, they claimed, pompous-sounding titles.
In 1986, however, the IOT was formally inaugurated with the charter of training magicians in the system of Peter Carroll, a magician and theoretical physicist and one of the pioneers of a proposal that Chaos theory holds the most likely explanation of how Magick actually works.
An Occult order of Chaos Magick, the name of which is drawn from a corruption of the Greek deities Thanatos, who with Hypnos was the offspring of Nyx and the personification of death, and Eros, the god of love whose mother was Aphrodite.

KAAOS.org Chaos Never Died » Defining Chaos
At some point, about 1986, Ray Sherwin "excommunicated himself" because he felt that the Order was slipping into the power structure that he had intended to avoid with this group, and Pete Carroll became known as the leader of "The Pact".
The IOT continues to survive and was identified as the only international Chaos organisation until early 90's.
Pete Carroll was a regular contributor to the magazine, and together, due to dissatisfaction with the magical scene in Britain at the time, they formed the "Illuminates of Thanateros".

The two 'names' most associated with the birth of Chaos Magick are Pete Carroll and Ray Sherwin, though there were others lurking in the background, such as the Stoke Newington Sorcerers (SNS) who later became entwined with the first stirrings of the Punk movement.
Often people who have had an experience of 'illumination' report that all their old repressive structures have dropped away.
He then went on to have several homosexual encounters which he said, did not give him any physical pleasure, but merely fed his 'belief' that he had sexually liberated himself.

Chaos magic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Carroll also co-founded with Ray Sherwin the Magical Pact of the Illuminates of Thanateros, or in short form Illuminates of Thanateros (IOT); an organization that continues research and development of chaos magic to the present day.
However, this preference is not shared by all and may be argued to root solely in the symbol's semi-official use by the Illuminates of Thanateros.
Most chaos magicians routinely create magical symbols for themselves - see Sigil.

Additional material about the history of the fort can be found in the German Prisoners of War at Fort Douglas Collection (Ms 646), which contains research material Ray Cunningham gathered for his thesis on World War I prisoners.
The other history, "The History of Fort Douglas," was written in 1946 by Ted B. Sherwin, an army public relations officer.
When Fort Douglas was closed, the remaining active troops were transferred to another base of operation, and the University of Utah took possession of the sixty-two buildings and fifty-one acres of land.
