CHENNAI: The Rameswaram coast in Tamil Nadu seems to be the most favoured point of exit for heroin being smuggled from India to neighbouring Sri Lanka, the latest analysis of the trend by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), reveals.
It is now a picture of sharp contrast as regards the Rameswaram coast where there was no smuggling attempt in 2001 though there were four instances from Tuticorin and other parts of the south the same year.
These may be used as places to either evade authorities or to pass on the contraband to Sri Lankan receivers.
