Radha - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the Vaishnava devotional or bhakti traditions of Hinduism that focus on Krishna, Radha the Gopi is his consort.
In the story of Krishna, as told in the Puranas and the Mahabharata, she is one of the gopis (cow-herding women) of the forest of Vrindavan, and was brought up in this community with Krishna.
As Lord Krishna enchants the world with His beauty and charm, Sri Radha enchants Him.

 Radha
At the most profound level, Radha and Krishna are merely Vaishnava names for Shakti and Shiva -- they are One, the Unity of the Divine Feminine with the Divine masculine.
Finally it happened that my guru broke with the other Vaisnavas and I remember his words to me: "They are offensive to Radha by minimizing her." Somehow that mystically started a spiritual process within me, and with it came the inner relization that I am not a Krishna bhakta, but a Radha bhakta.
In scripture and mythology, Radha never becomes quite as independent as, say, Lalitha Tripurasundari or the Nine Durgas or the Ten Mahavidyas.

Radha's status as a being worthy of worship by Krishna devotees is explained in the philosophic teachings of the Bengal Vaishnavas.
As the queen of the cosmos, as consort of the great god Krishna, she is described as surrounded and worshiped by millions of cowherd devotees and as acting the part of the chaste and jealous wife of Krishna.
Radha's illicit relationship with Krishna breaks ail social norms and casts her in the role of one who willfully steps outside the realm of dharma to pursue her love.

Through initiation by the Living Master and practicing the spiritual exercises, the radha soami disciple, or satsangi, is able to transcend the lower regions which are ruled by a negative force known as Kal, and connect with that which cannot be described (God).
Radha Soami Satsang Beas "is a scientific method of … [God realization] within us, while we are still living in the here and now," according to Maharaj Charan Singh, the previous Living Master.
It is "a school of practical spiritual training for God realisation" and "does not consist of any rites, rituals, ceremonies, dogmas, priesthood, or church or temple worship."

Radha in the Erotic Play of the Universe
Radha's passionate love of Krishna, raised to its highest intensity, is not an allegory for religious passion; it is religious passion.
Radha is certainly no paragon of the womanly virtues detailed in Hindu texts; nor does she come close to any of the `good' or `bad' mother-goddesses of Indian mythology and religion.
Radha is parakiya, another-man's woman, (6) and her liaison with Krishna, whatever its powerful meaning in mystical allegory, is plainly adulterous (7) in human terms.

îHe said that the Radha Damodar temple is in the center of the spiritual world because of the activities that went on there among the followers of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and because of the intimacy of the association and what was revealed there to the devotees and what they experienced there.
The sevaite of the temple, Sri Gaurachanda Goswami, approached Srila Prabhupada and invited him to come and live there since it was the eternal home of Srila Rupa Goswami and Srila Jiva Goswami.
Thus, he referred to his rooms at Radha Damodar Temple as his ëeternal residence,' the place where he began his plans to spread the Krsna Consciousness movement.

A third reason offered is that Sri Radha, as per the Brahma vaivarta Purana, was the 'ista devata' of Sukadeva Goswami.
