 Interpretations of Probability
Note also that the requirement of regularity seems to afford a new argument for the non-existence of God as traditionally conceived: an omniscient agent, who gives probability 1 to all truths, would be convicted of irrationality.
The derivation of them from preferences makes them ascertainable to the extent that his or her preferences are known.
The first role, according to some, constrains them to obey the probability calculus (with finite additivity); the second role, according to others, constrains them to violate it.

 Probability
Using probabilities, scientists communicate the degree of certainty as to the truth of their conclusions.
The first one is written out, while the second is in symbol form.
Conditional probabilities are written p(AB), which can be read "The probability of A given B".

Math Forum: Ask Dr. Math FAQ: Probability
* Note that when you're dealing with an infinite number of possible events, an event that could conceivably happen might have probability zero.
This may seem like the same question, but it is not the same because we now have more than one event.
Given the only two events that are possible in this example (picking a red marble or picking a blue marble), if you don't do the first, then you must do the second.

 Probability
What message is being given to students about the importance of understanding probability when a large proportion of the exercises in our texts are based on coins, cards, dice, marbles and urns?
While such exercises take some effort to create, I think the effort is necessary if we are to help students realise why we study this topic.
