Prajna is the wisdom derived from the Mahaprajnaparamita (the great teaching of no other) that guides us across the sea of samsara (suffering and pain) to nirvana (the apparent distant shore).

 How to Study the Dharma
Once the second prajna of contemplation has in this way opened the doorway to meditation, the practice of the third prajna is to rest and remain in the meditative state at ever-deeper levels and for increasing periods of time.
The way these two prajnas work together is similar to ballet, where the dancer must first master the external positions and movements before she can begin to use the forms to express the subtlety, beauty and powerful meaning that make a truly great ballerina.
The emphasis in the first prajna is on what the Buddhist tradition actually says about the topic under consideration.

 Prajna
First of all, the word “prajna” is a Buddhist term that means (roughly) 'inner flight.' So here’s what that means to me. In the modern world, I believe there is a powerful, yet widely undiagnosed, sentiment of escapism.
People seek to find their inner peace through materialism, relationships, religion, careers, etc. This escapism acts as a vehicle for the de-humanizing of society.

Mahayana - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to Mahayana, traditional Buddhism tends to focus on an ascetic, individual, approach to attain Nirvana: suppression of desire, removal from the world, solitariness.
On the contrary, the primary focus of Mahayana is bodhicitta: a mind of great compassion conjoined with wisdom (prajna) realizing emptiness.
With this mind the practitioner will realize the final goal of full enlightenment, or Buddhahood: an omniscient mind completely free from suffering and its causes, that is able to work tirelessly for the benefit of all living beings, becoming a Bodhisattva.
