The Social Science major at the University of St. Francis is a broad program that equips students with the content they need to teach history, government, geography, economics, and other subjects at the secondary level.
For example, students may investigate fairy tales from an anthropological perspective, discern the impact of geography on the development of civilization, or zero in on the economic causes of the American Revolution, but the focus is people — with their lifestyles and ideas, their hopes and dreams, and their accomplishments.
In addition to traditional methods of teaching, they often use debates, role-plays and simulations to make topics come alive.
