Topic: Nisan

Nisan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nisan (נִיסָן, Standard Hebrew Nisan, Tiberian Hebrew Nîsān: from Akkadian nisānu, from Sumerian nisag "First fruits") is the first month of the civil year and the seventh month (eighth, in leap year) of the ecclesiastical year on the Hebrew calendar.
In traditional Christian belief Jesus' death occurred at 3:00 (i.e., the ninth canonical hour) on the afternoon of 15 Nisan, the first day of Passover, and the Last Supper was a Passover Seder held the night before on the evening of 15 Nisan.
In the Hebrew calendar the day begins at sunset, as in the Book of Genesis, "there was evening, and there was morning" in that order.

Easter - When did Jesus Resurrect?
Nisan 15 is ALWAYS a sabbath as it's a holy convocation (Leviticus 23:7).
According to Leviticus 23:11, "The priest shall wave the sheaf of the firstfruits of the harvest before the Lord, to be accepted for you: on the day after the SABBATH the priest shall wave it".
Guards had watched at the entrance to the sepulchre from sunset on the sabbath throughout the night of Nisan 16, (which was a Sunday, the first day of the week in Hebrew reckoning).

 Nisan: the First Month
Several of the books which were held sacred by the Dead Sea sect made a point of identifying events in the lives of the Hebrew patriarchs and other biblical figures as having occurred on the first of Nisan.
An intriguing example can be found among the "Dead Sea Scrolls," in a document known to scholars as the "Temple Scroll." This manuscript consists of a lengthy paraphrase of the Torah, interspersed with many additions of laws peculiar to the sect which produced it.
The same date was said to mark other events in the lives of the Hebrew patriarchs.

Nisan was the first month on the Hebrew calendar and marked the beginning of the religious year and the month in which Passover would be celebrated.
In the early days of lunar calendars the Hebrew calendar was set by the priests of Israel every spring.

 NiSAN-4
As I suggested, NiSAN is a form of mystical hermeneutics - i.e., the NiSAN method is designed not only to elucidate the interpreted text, but also to approach and experience the Divine realm.
The different methods of interpretation of NiSAN are arranged according to ascending realms in the chain of being.
The letter Taf (Torah) in the word HuKaT denotes these methods (which are not included in the NiSAN scheme, and are parallel to the Pshat and Drash of the PaRDeS).

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Easter
Because the Sunday after 14 Nisan was the historical day of the Resurrection, at Rome this Sunday became the Christian feast of Easter.
In fact, the Jewish feast was taken over into the Christian Easter celebration; the liturgy (Exsultet) sings of the passing of Israel through the Red Sea, the paschal lamb, the column of fire, etc. Apart, however, from the Jewish feast, the Christians would have celebrated the anniversary of the death and the Resurrection of Christ.
To know this day was very simple for the Jews; it was the day after the 14th of the first month, the 15th of Nisan of their calendar.

To have Nisan later than Chislev (in the same year) may seem strange until one realizes that Nehemiah was using a Tishri-to-Tishri (September/October) dating method rather than the Persian Nisan-to-Nisan method.
Since the accession-year system was used the first year of Artaxerxes' reign according to the Persian Nisan-to-Nisan reckoning would be Nisan 464 to Nisan 463 and according to the Jewish Tishri-to-Tishri reckoning would be Tishri 464 to Tishri 463.

Kavanah (Intention) - Nisan and Pesach
The Hebrew word "Nisan" may be related to the Hebrew word nitzan, which means "bud." Nisan marks the birth of spring, signaled by the arrival of new buds and the birth of the Israelite nation.
Pesah (Passover) begins on the 15th of Nisan and continues for seven days, through the 21st of Nisan, though many global Jewish communities celebrate it for eight days.
The Hebrew word Pesah literally means "pass over." Prior to the tenth plague, God commanded the Israelites to smear blood from a sacrificial paschal ("pass over") lamb on the doorposts of their homes.

For firstfruits (the Omer), and the resurrection, to always be on the third day after Passover, as scripture clearly declares, it must be on 16 Nisan, "the morrow after the sabbath" of 15 Nisan.
