<b>Marathib> is not a dravidian language because they follow sanskrit system.

In fact, I think, faculty members whose first language is <b>Marathib> generally speak a mixture of English and <b>Marathib> among themselves, and this is what I have ended up doing with those with whom I am most at home.
In academic contexts, people frequently choose English over <b>Marathib> for reasons that have little to do with me. This is particularly true at universities, where English is generally the medium of instruction and the principal language of administration and of conversation among faculty members.

The origin and development of the  Konkani language
I feel that as a language derived from Sanskrit, Nagari (Sanskrit script) is best suited to express the complex pronunciation of the language, and should be used by all Konkanis regardless of the geographical location.
There is no other language with a possible exception of Sanskrit that a language is written in so many scripts.
They called Konkani the language of the Brahmins, language of the Kanarese, language of Goan Brahmins, etc. The clergy translated the Christian religious texts to Konkani with the help of the converts and a new form of Konkani literature was born.

That the Konkani language is not a dialect of <b>Marathib> and that it is an independent language has been shown by many prominent philologists, notably among them the renowned Konkani lexicographer Mgr.
After sixteen years since Konkani was recognized as State language, the Marathiwallas have now resurrected the language polemics in order to claim <b>Marathib> to be Goa's State language branding Konkani as a dialect of <b>Marathib>.
