Topic: Manjusri

 Bodhisattva Manjusri
Manjusri, which means Gentle Glory or Sweet Splendor, the personification of Transcendent Wisdom, and one of the two most important Bodhisattvas of Mahayana Buddhism, is the first Bodhisattva mentioned in the Mahayana scriptures.
According to tradition in China the first day of the year is dedicated to Manjusri, who is considered by some to be the god of agriculture, by others the celestial architect who is believed to have inspired with his divine intelligence those who have been active in propagating the Buddha-Dharma.
It is logical to assume that Manjusri has in like manner guided and inspired the monks, teachers and masters in the past as they developed and perfected the philosophy and practice of Buddhism that has been bequeathed to us.

Manjusri is one of the most important Bodhisattvas of the Mahayana Buddhist pantheon.
L.A. Waddell observes that Manjusri’s wisdom is deified and he is a purely metaphysical or obstract creation ‘unconnected with any of his later name sakes’ among the Buddhist monks in the fourth or the fifth century....
Endowed with thuderbolt which is also the attribute of the Hindu god Indra or Sakra, Vajrapani is associated with Buddha as his attendant wherever he went to preach the dharma.

And in Buddhism there is a mythical figure who embodies the practice of seeing things as they are, and this is the Bodhisattva Manjusri.
The actual word Manjusri means "noble, gentle one." Manjusri's wisdom and youth cause him to be like that, and also I know that the Manjusri that is sitting in your seat is like that too, noble and gentle.
Another thing about Manjusri Bodhisattva, the bodhisattva who embodies this practice of seeing things as they really are, beyond limited views, is that he's usually depicted as being youthful.

Iconographic Contact between Karttikeya and Manjusri in China
It was only natural that Manjusri, under the influence of Karttikeya, developed a relationship with the father of the latter (according to a belief).
That the deity of Buddhist pantheon established a syncretistic relationship with the Brahmanical god is also indicated by such appellation for Manjusri as Manjukumara.
In that case, we cannot deny the possibility of one of the earliest contacts between Karttikeya and Manjusri having taken place in the latter's traditional domain (viz., the province of Shensi) in or before the latter half of the 5th cent.
