 Ramana Maharshi
Ramana Maharshi's religious vision is strongly Advaitic and he expressed this in conversations with disciples and visitors.
The main symbol for the followers of Ramana Maharshi is Arunachala, the holy mountain, which was so much a part of his religious experience.
At the Ramana Maharshi Ashram in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, South India.

 The Maharshi Newsletter - Sept/Oct 1996
Maharshi: The devotee, God and the hymns are all the Self.
The Maharshi called it the 'Heart of the earth, the spiritual center of the world.' Sri Shankara declared it to be Mount Meru.
It must be remembered that even those who came under the immediate influence of the Master had to dedicate their lives totally to the spiritual ideal and put forth tremendous effort and sacrifice before resting in the supreme state of Self-abidance.

Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi: Sage of Arunachala, Be As You Are
                          Sri Ramana Maharshi
At the ashram, he  attracted  a  small  group  of  followers  who  renamed him  from  his  given  birth  name,  Venkatarman,  to  Bhagavan  (Lord  or  God)  Sri  (an  Indian  title  of  honor)   Ramana  (a  contraction  of  his  given  name)  Maharshi  (great seer in Sanskrit).

 The Maharshi Newsletter - March/April 1995
It was believed that the Maharshi had the power to undo years of spiritual preparation that the Mother and Aurobindo were effecting on the psyche of their followers.
Not too long after Sri Ramana Maharshi arrived at Arunachala as a boy-sage he was shown this text by one of his disciples, who, in all likelihood, asked him to elucidate certain points not understood.
The Maharshi found the text so much agreed with his own experience that he made a Tamil prose rendering of the Viveka-Chudamani's 580 Sanskrit verses.

 Ramana Maharshi Biography
The teachings of Ramana Maharshi are among the clearest and most direct of the advaitic (nondualistic) teachings originating from India.
Though we often refer to the teaching of Ramana Maharshi as a "path," it is truly pathless.
Deeply impressed and touched by his great wisdom, the Muni proclaimed that Venkataraman should subsequently be known as Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi.

 Topics — Ramana Maharshi
Ramana Maharshi believed that death and evil were maya, or illusion, which could be dissipated by the practice of vicara, by which the true self and the unity of all things would be discovered.
For liberation from rebirth it is sufficient, he believed, to practice only vicara and bhakti (devotional surrender) either to Shiva Arunachala or to Ramana Maharshi.
He immediately renounced his possessions, shaved his head, and fled from his village to Mt. Arunachala to become a hermit and one of India’s youngest gurus.

The Teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi
In the light of the life and teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi, the devotees of Arunachala Ashrama believe that spiritual practice (sadhana) is essential.
In Arunachala Ashrama, Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi remains the teacher and Guru.
For those with faith in the Maharshi's living presence there are no doubts in this matter.

 GURU, SILENCE & SATSANGA
Sri Ramana Maharshi: Although in absolute truth the state of the Guru is that of oneself (the Self), it is very hard for the self which has become the individual (jiva or embodied soul) through ignorance, to realise its true state or nature without the grace of the Guru.
Sri Ramana Maharshi: The very fact that you are possessed of the quest for the Self is a manifestation of the divine grace.
Sri Ramana Maharshi: God, grace and Guru are all synonymous and also eternal and immanent.

Life of Ramana Maharshi — writespirit.net
Ramana Maharshi had no formal training in Yoga, he was entirely self taught, receiving only guidance from his own inner pilot, but so unique and powerful were his teachings that learned men well versed in scripture became disciples of Ramana Maharshi.
With this glimpse of a higher, immortal consciousness the Maharshi lost all interest in his worldly life, he was plunged into a period of intense meditation on the nature of “Who am I” Absorbed in contemplations of a higher consciousness Ramana no longer felt any reason to stay in his home town.
Sri Aurbindo said that Ramana Maharshi’s tapasya (spiritual practice) was a shining light of India.

Living the Inspiration of Sri Ramana Maharshi
Let me say first that Ramana Maharshi was one of the most highly regarded and widely respected spiritual figures that twentieth-century India produced.
Maalok: When the topic of Ramana Maharshi's teachings comes up, most people think of self-inquiry, the practice of asking oneself 'Who am I?' You haven't even mentioned this.
For those of us who don't know much about the Maharshi, could you please share some of the salient aspects of his life that have influenced you deeply.

 Sri Ramana Maharshi
The life of the Maharshi was one continued meditation, Ananda Anubhavam.
During his days of Tapas, mischievous boys pelted him with stones and hurled tiles at him; and yet Ramana was ever peaceful and calm through the strength of meditation and penance.
The great Maharshi found Himself within himself and then gave out to the world the grand but simple message of his great life, "Know Thyself".

This, in substance, is Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi's teaching in Nan Yar (Who am I?).

Bhagavan Ramana the Guru of Sri H.W.L. Poonja Papaji
Note that the Maharshi first explains karma, mantra and bhakti yogas as the basis for jnana that is taught later.
In this Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi explains the all main yogic practices culminating in jnana yoga, the yoga of knowledge its main method of Self-inquiry that he emphasized.
When the mind attains its composure in its abode within the heart, this is certainly the essence of karma, bhakti, yoga and jnana.

The Teachings of Ramana Maharshi: An Integral View
The Maharshi's path follows the integral approach of Vedic teachings going back thousands of years and, particularly, the Advaitic and yogic approaches taught by Shankaracharya (seventh century) that included devotional practices and raja yoga (as taught in texts like Saundarya Lahiri).
The Maharshi advised this as the most important yoga path after Self-inquiry and usually recommended it along with it.
The first Karma Yoga approach is allied to Jnana as a form of Vichara, the second to Bhakti as a form of surrender.

 Spiritwalk Teachers: Ramana Maharshi
Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi, known as The Sage of Arunachala, is widely recognised as perhaps the most unique spiritual personality of the 20th Century.
Awakening at the age of sixteen after an experience of bodily death, Bhagawan Sri Ramana Maharshi is perhaps known as the greatest Saint of the Twentieth Century.
This act of perfect grace can be experienced anywhere, but it is especially palpable at his Ashrama in South India at the foot of the holy Arunachala Hill, a hill that has attracted saints and sages for thousands of years.

In the case of Ramakrishna, there is no doubt that the image which represents him adequately, and for purposes of worship, is that of the Shakti, not under the terrible aspect alone but rather, indeed, as she appeared to the saint, under the aspect of beauty and maternal love.
That spiritual function which can be described as "action of presence" found in the Maharshi its most rigorous expression.
Shri Ramana was as it were the incarnation, in these latter days and in the face of the modern activist fever, of what is primordial and incorruptible in India.

Ramana Maharshi - Sage of Arunachala Hill
Ramana Maharshi (Maha or great, Rishi or Enlightened Being) was the awe inspiring sage who's presence graced the renowned sacred Arunachala hill during much of the 20th century.
The Maharshi would consent to accept a small mouthful of food each day and the rest was returned to devotees as prasad (offerings of a holy person).
The people who were drawn to Ramana Maharshi had very diverse spiritual and religious backgrounds.

Ramana Maharshi - Stories and Teachings Part 2
When studying the Upanishads in my early days, I always visualized the divine abode in the sun god and was performing the practices enjoined in certain texts.
Sri Bhagavan quietly said: "And now have you known the essence of the Dakshinamurthy Hymn?" All the devotees stood and made pranam to the holy form of the Guru in the ecstasy of their Being.
Mudalier got frightened and went to Maharshi in whom he had more faith and reported this remark.

 Ramana Maharshi - Page 128
We see that Ramana Maharshi experienced some form of "ego death" when he was a teenager, in that "upper room" of his uncle's house.
That thought is not expressed in the writings which I have regarding Ramana Maharshi, nor, to my knowledge, is it expressed in any of my other spiritual / religious books.
It is awesome to think of the tremendous energy and power embodied in the life of someone like Ramana Maharshi, or Ramakrishna, or Sidhartha Gautama the Buddha, or Mahavira the Jain Tirthankara.

The conversation turned upon the question as to whether Iswara Prasad (Divine Grace) is necessary for the attaining of samrajya (universal dominion) or whether a jiva's honest and strenuous efforts to attain it cannot of themselves lead him to That from whence is no return to life and death.
The Talks are a record in the form of diary of some of the conversations which the visitors and disciples have had with the Master on Spiritual matters for almost exactly four years - April 1935 to May 1939.
