Rama is one of the primary Avatars of the Hindu faith, and is considered an incarnation of Vishnu the Preserver.
Rama became King of Kosala Kingdom after defeating the "demon" Ravana who had vanquished not only all of India, but the entire pantheon of Hindu gods and goddesses as well.
Rama was married to Sita, and the Ramayana is the story of how Ravana kidnapped Sita for himself, and Rama's battle against the Island fortress of Lanka (modern day Sri Lanka).

VNN Editorial - Appearance Of Lord Rama
Lord Ramacandra's faith in the brahmanas and affection for His servants was observed by all the brahmanas, who then offered their prayers to the Lord and returned whatever they had taken from Him.
Lord Ramacandra, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, performed various sacrifices by which to worship Himself, and at the end of these sacrifices He gave land to the hota, adhvaryu, udgata and brahma priests.
Previously, Hanuman, the eternal servant of the Lord, had set fire to Lanka, and now, with the help of Laksmana, the forces of Lord Ramacandra killed all the Raksasa soldiers.

 Introduction
Rama is worshipped by Hindus in every part of India and thus serves as a unifying force for his devotees.
Actually Bharata, after failing to persuade Rama to return to Ayodhya, begs Rama to part with his sandals under the authority of which Bharata plans to serve the empire as a figurehead until Rama's return.
Once Rama is crowned, he will not leave Bharata alone, Manththara says and "There will be danger to his life." And then the final blow: "Kausalya is no friend of yours.

Rama The Ideal Man: The Epic Adventure of a Hero
Indeed if the Lord were to be parted from his compassion, our plight would be like that of Ravana, who separated Sita from her Lord Rama.
When doing so, Rama the humble man he was, didn't proclaim a divine authority but only acknowledged that he was but a tool in the hands of fate, an instrument of destiny.
Having made themselves comfortable in the dense forest, Rama and Sita continued to live as man and wife, enjoying all the pleasures that attend to a married and devoted couple.

 Sri Adi-Varaha
Lord Indra took the Diety to his residence in the heavenly planets to be worshipped.
Then, when Shatrughna, Lord Rama's brother, went to Madhupuri (Mathura) to defeat some demons, he brought the Deity with him, and Lord Varaha has been there ever since.
When the kingdom was usurped by Ravana, Indra lost possession of the murti, and Ravana took the Diety with him to his capital of Sri Lanka.

Hanuman - Devotee of Lord Rama

Hindutva Series : Hindu Festivals - Deepavali, Dassera and Holi
The Third Hindu tradition associated with the celebration of Deepavali is that of the slaying of the Demon Narakasura by Lord Sri Krishna.
Many of our festivals, we are told, owe their origin to acts of the Gods; the birth of Lord Rama (Ramnavami), his return from exile (Diwali), the birth of Lord Krishna (Krishnastami or Janmastami) and so on.
After a few more years when Dashratha's eldest son Rama attained manhood, Dashratha felt it was time up for him to renounce worldly pleasures and relinquish his throne in favour of Rama.

 Diwali
Although the Rama tradition is widespread, in some parts of India Diwali honors the marriage of the goddess Lakshmi and the god Vishnu ; in others it remembers the triumph of Lord Krishna over the demon Naraka.
When Lord Rama and his wife Sita returned to rule their country, their people lit the way with small oil lamps called diye.
While for most Hindus the worship of Lakshmi is a focus of Diwali, Hindus in Bengal honor the fearsome goddess Kali.

 Enjoy beef, Lord RAMA
Lord Siva cleverly words the curse to allow himself (the 'perfectly controlled sage') and his sons to enjoy the demon women.
Lord Indra, although the King of Vedic Hindu Gods, is a totally hopeless character:
Lord Rama, a great, divine exemplar of dharma & virtue for Ariyan Hindus apparently doesn't care much for vegetarianism & ahimsa.

 Vijay Dasami
Lord Ram was very pleased to hear this testimony, and as tears of joy fell from His eyes, He replied, "Agni, it was necessary for Sita to undergo this trial by fire in order to convince the masses of people of her purity.
Actually, Lord Ram felt great transcendental bliss while being reunited with Sita, for His pastimes were all manifestations of His internal potency, and had been enacted for the purpose of relishing spiritual relationships.

On the right bank of the river Ghagra or Saryu, as it is called within sacred precincts, stands the holy city of Ayodhya, believed to be the birth place of lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of lord Vishnu.
A massive structure in the shape of a four-sided fort with circular bastions at each corner, houses a temple of Hanuman and is the most popular shrine in Ayodhya.
Ayodhya is pre-eminently a city of temples yet, all the places of worship here, are not only of Hindu religion.

INDOlink - Religion and Spirituality - NASA Images Discover Ancient Bridge between India and SriLanka
This information may not be of much importance to the archeologists who are interested in exploring the origins of man, but it is sure to open the spiritual gates of the people of the world to have come to know an ancient history linked to the Indian mythology.
This information is a crucial aspect for an insight into the mysterious legend called Ramayana, which was supposed to have taken place in Tredha Yuga (more than 1,700,000 years ago).
In this epic, there is a mentioning about a bridge, which was built between Rameshwaram (India) and Srilankan coast under the supervision of a dynamic and invincible figure called Rama who is supposed to be the incarnation of the supreme.

Will Salman make a good Lord Rama?
Lord Rama is not just a god to the Hindus...
There is no star currently in Bollywood who can do potray the role of Rama in a decent fashion.
It would be a shame for Lord Rama if he(Salman) is acting as Lord Rama.

Rama was also a blue skinned guy, just like Krishna.he was the one who often used to drive Pushpaka Viman(no,i"ll not say Vimana,'cause correct pronounciation is Viman
About all I know of Lord Rama is from listening to a radio drama compression of the Ramayana here.
The homo sapien sapien species hadn't even evolved back then, so it seems quite unlikely to me to imagine a complex civilization of people acting so much like modern humans.
