Sacrosanctum Concilium - On the Sacred Liturgy
For the liturgy, "through which the work of our redemption is accomplished," (1) most of all in the divine sacrifice of the eucharist, is the outstanding means whereby the faithful may express in their lives, and manifest to others, the mystery of Christ and the real nature of the true Church.
The study of sacred liturgy is to be ranked among the compulsory and major courses in seminaries and religions houses of studies; in theological faculties it is to rank among the principal courses.
From the liturgy, therefore, and especially from the eucharist, as from a font, grace is poured forth upon us; and the sanctification of men in Christ and the glorification of God, to which all other activities of the Church are directed as toward their end, is achieved in the most efficacious possible way.

The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod - Liturgy and Culture
We worship with every generation of the Church in one unified liturgy where Jesus Christ and heaven itself are present in God's Word and Sacrament.
The first allegiance in mediating between liturgy and culture is faithfulness to the biblical witness and the Lutheran theological tradition that preserves that witness in the liturgy.
The great witnesses of the faith are present in the assembly because Christ is present in the liturgy.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Liturgy
The Ethiopic Liturgies, used by the Church of Abyssinia.
On the one hand, liturgy often means the whole complex of official services, all the rites, ceremonies, prayers, and sacraments of the Church, as opposed to private devotions.
The Liturgy, as it crystallized in these centres, became the type for the other Churches of their patriarchates.

 Liturgy
Revised liturgies also are contained in Methodist, Congregationalist, and Presbyterian church hymnals.
Outside the Christian church, liturgy is also used to designate the form of prayer recited in Jewish synagogues.
The Alexandrian liturgies include the Greek liturgy of Saint Mark, no longer used; the Coptic liturgy, which is used by the Copts (Coptic Church) in Egypt; and the Ethiopian liturgy, used by the Ethiopian church.

The liturgy concludes with a dialogue between the priest and congregation.

Western Churches not in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church also usually prefer terms other than "Mass", although it is used in some Anglican and Lutheran churches.

Liturgy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the Christian church, liturgical churches are those that use a well-defined liturgy, where many of the words and music used are identical each time the service is conducted.
Methods of dress, preparation of food, application of cosmetics or other hygenic practices are all considered liturgic activities of various religions.

 The Holy Eucharist
The Divine Liturgy begins with the solemn declaration: "Blessed be the Kingdom of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit now and for ever more." With these words we are reminded that in the Divine Liturgy the Church becomes a real manifestation of God's Kingdom on earth.
The Divine Liturgy may be divided into two major parts: the Liturgy of the Catechumens and the Liturgy of the Faithful, which are preceded by the Service of Preparation.
However, the Divine Liturgy is not celebrated by the priest privately, without a congregation.

 Maronite Liturgy
It is fitting that the Liturgy begins with the angelic hymn, for in our faith we believe that whenever the Divine Liturgy is celebrated on earth, the boundaries between heaven and earth are removed and earthy worshipers join in the eternal Heavenly Liturgy chanted by the angels.
Therefore, its liturgy is strongly influenced by the world-view of the Bible.
By meditating on the whole range of prayers in the Liturgy, the laity were educated in the faith.

Liturgy: Original Services, Worship Ideas and Articles
Like the "little liturgies" of the Psalms, I try to bring the prayers and praises of the people of a particular time, place and situation to God, and then speak God's living word to them in grace-filled response.
I write all my work from the "ground up," with the belief that liturgy comes out of the needs of the people.
The work contained here is original material written over many years, with inspiration provided by my parish situations, requests from pastors, synods, and bishops of the Church.

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Liturgy of the Mass
But the distinctions that are really important to the student of liturgy are, first the historic division between the Mass of the Catechumens and Mass of the Faithful, already explained, and then the great practical distinction between the changeable and unchangeable parts.
As excommunication means the loss of that right in those who are expelled so the Mass and Communion are the visible bond between people, priest, and bishop, who are all one body who share the one Bread.
There is reason to believe, moreover, that it has since been influenced both from Jerusalem-Antioch and Alexandria, though many of the forms common to it and these two may be survivals of that original, universal fluid rite which have not been preserved in the Apost.

Its words are the words of the liturgy as much as the prayers of the presider or the songs of the assembly.
One who would preside at liturgy must be practiced in reverence for the symbolic reality of the deeds done by the Church at liturgy.
And what a treasure that is! The liturgy -- God's word proclaimed and God's word listened to -- is being carried by the assembly and they mean it when they say, ” be to God/Demos gracias a Dios.” Every Sunday the Sacred Scriptures have been opened and read aloud.

Medieval Sourcebook: Mass of The Roman Rite [Latin/English]
It seems that among these the liturgy of the Church in Rome was both particularly ancient and, owing the to position of the papacy, increasingly prestigious.
It was only with the Catholic response to the Protestant Reformation, however, that a standard rite of mass was imposed on the entire Latin Church at the order of the Council of Trent.
In the centuries after the Council of Trent, a number of modifications were made [for instance the "restoration" of the Easter vigil by Pius XII.] Here is presented the basic text "Tridentine Mass" in its 1962 version.
