Temples are not open on Sunday, because the Sabbath day is dedicated to worshiping the Lord in homes and in Church gatherings at meetinghouses.
All the gifts of the Spirit and of the holy priesthood mentioned in scripture have been manifest at one time or another in the spiritual outpourings attending temple dedications, including visions, revelations, healings, discernment, and prophecy; and likewise the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, meekness, faith.
In the temple, holy truths are taught and solemn covenants are made in the name of Jesus Christ, both by the individual members on their own behalf and as proxies on behalf of others who have died (the latter have the choice in the spirit world to accept or reject such vicarious service).

Latter-day Saints (LDS) / Mormon Statistics / Church of Jesus Christ Statistics
Still, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the 11th largest Christian denomination in the state, according to the Glenmary data, and Miss Rhode Island of 1999, Karen Lindsay, is a Latter-day Saint.
The implication of this correlation is that in the United States, the overwhelming majority of people who consider themselves Latter-day Saints are officially counted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, just as the majority of people counted by the Church of Jesus Christ consider themselves to be Latter-day Saints.

Houston Area Public Affairs Council - Temples
Temple ordinances are part of what Latter-day Saints term the "restoration of the gospel." A central belief is that in the early and mid-1800s, the original Church of Jesus Christ - lost for centuries - was restored to earth.
atter-day Saint temples are not places of regular Sunday worship.

Decker's Complete Handbook on Mormonism - FARMS Review
"Day after day the 'one true church' grinds up countless people in the monstrous gears of its theology—spitting out wretched, frightened human beings who have all but given up on God, any God" (p.
Although, for instance, he has claimed that the spires of Latter-day Saint churches and temples are satanic nails designed either to pierce God in heaven or to crucify Christ at the second coming, his Handbook is silent on the subject.
But this is, of course, contrary to the teaching of both the Bible and the Book of Mormon (e.g., Alma 34:33-35).

 Families and Temples
Latter-day Saints believe that this incident on Mt Tabor was when Christ passed on to the three Apostles that went with him the beginning of what we refer to as a temple endowment.
One of the great lessons that goes too unnoticed is that the Church was reorganized in a family’s home.
I knew how to get to their house from the nearest temple, so I told my children to - "…look for the temple, because if we aim for the temple, we know we’ll make it." I hadn’t realized what I’d said until later - I was too busy driving.

 Fulfilled Prophecies of Joseph Smith
However, the most important evidence for Joseph's divine calling as a prophet of Christ is the Book of Mormon, which is why I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
What did they have to say to me? They thought it was a Mormon humbug, and laughed me to scorn, and they looked upon that revelation as they do upon all others that God has given in these latter days -- as without divine authority.
Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever.

 Temple Square
Beside the jutting, granite spires of the temple stands the Tabernacle — a faithful companion.
As a final touch, Cyrus E. Dallin sculpted a statue of the Book of Mormon prophet Moroni to stand at the pinnacle.
Nearby the temple and Tabernacle, the Assembly Hall stands like a dutiful child.

MRM.org - Articles of Interest - FARMS' Critique of "Questions to Ask Your Mormon Friend" (D. Charles Pyle)
Today the temple is a sacred place in which to do work for those who cannot do it for themselves and while we learn m ore of the ways of the Lord.
While the priests of the temples of old performed sacrifices on behalf of the living for the penitent who brought forth their sacrifices, temple-worthy Mormons perform ordinances for only themselves and people who are already dead.

Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies
In the words of editor Grant Hardy, an associate professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, the Book of Mormon is "one of the world's most influential religious texts" and therefore "worthy of serious study" (vii).
The Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies (FARMS) supports study and research on the Book of Mormon, the Book of Abraham, the Old Testament and the New Testament, studies of the early formative period of the Christian tradition, ancient temples, and other related subjects.
However, as Hardy notes, it may often be ignored, particularly by those outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, simply because it is difficult to read.

One of the first Latter-day Saint temples built in the Southwest was the Mesa temple, finished in 1927.
