The word "Karaite" comes from the Hebrew word קְרָאִים (Standard Hebrew Qəraʾim; Tiberian Hebrew Qərāʾîm), meaning "Readers (of Scripture)." This name was chosen by the adherents of Karaite Judaism to distinguish themselves from the adherents of Rabbinic Judaism.

Messianic Judaism started about 30 years ago and is an offshoot of the many denominations of Judaism filled with their various legalistic man-made doctrines of the Talmud with the exception of belief in the Messiah.
