Halakha - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Its laws, guidelines, and opinions cover a vast range of situations and principles, in the attempt to comprehend what is implied by the repeated commandment to "be holy as I your God am holy" of the Torah.
Judaism has always held that gentiles are obligated only to follow the seven Noahide Laws; these are laws that the oral law derives from the covenant God made with Noah after the flood, which apply to all descendants of Noah (all living people).
Although not mentioning the Noahide Laws directly by name, the Christian convention of Apostles and elders in Jerusalem mentioned in Acts 15 appears to validate the idea that all gentiles follow the constraints established by the covenant of Noah.

Therefore, belief in God is the conse quence of the law.
The contraction of the realm of halacha to an increasingly narrow sphere is almost exclusively attributed to the post-Enlightenment Jewish emancipation [16] and the consequent release of Jews into a culture dominated by secularism and in possession of a modern historical sense.
Whether the obligation to obey the law stems from divine command, imposed hierarchically from above, or from a consensual agreement between two covenanting parties - a question the rabbinic tradition itself raises but does not resolve[56] - the meaning of the law resides in its divine origin.

 Judaism 101: Halakhah: Jewish Law
At the heart of halakhah is the unchangeable 613 mitzvot that G-d gave to the Jewish people in the Torah (the first five books of the Bible).
The word "halakhah" is usually translated as "Jewish Law," although a more literal translation might be "the path that one walks." The word is derived from the Hebrew root Heh-Lamed-Kaf, meaning to go, to walk or to travel.
Some non-Jews and non-observant Jews criticize this legalistic aspect of traditional Judaism, saying that it reduces the religion to a set of rituals devoid of spirituality.

Becoming Jewish: Converting according to Jewish Law
Becoming Jewish means that most of what you were taught about spirituality until now will be irrelevant, and in many cases wrong.
It is impossible to properly fulfill Judaism unless you are part of a Jewish community and congregation.
Jewish doctrine about G-d is core and inviolate.

 THE LIBRARY OF JEWISH LAW
The principles of bailment in Jewish law are found in the Bible, elucidated in the Talmud, and presented systematically in the codes.
Law was the medium by which the tribes of Israel took their first faltering steps towards nationhood.
This book, which may serve as the basis for understanding the Jewish approach to ecological problems, is accompanied by photographs of nature sites in Israel, and the text of environmental regulations adopted by 19th century neighborhoods in Jerusalem.

Gene C. Colman - Family Law Centre - Jewish Marriage & Ontario Law
NOTICE: If the interplay between Jewish Law and Secular Law is of interest ot you, then you should visit the Jewish Law Home Page at www.jlaw.com.
He moved for summary judgment to dismiss the wife’s claim for a declaration that the definition of a spouse within the meaning of Ontario’s Family Law Act gave her the status to claim as such from and after the date of the religious marriage, April 3, 1987.
Therefore, even in a situation where both parties concede to having enacted a valid matrimonial ceremony, if they admit that no witnesses were present, the halakhah will not grant them the status of a married couple (see BT Kiddushin 65a; Maimonides "Ishut," 4:6; Karo, SA EH, 42:2).

 Why Jewish Medical Ethics
He then surveys Jewish legal sources from the Bible to the 20th century, identifying precedents from previous cases that might be applicable to the current case.
Probably the most famous compilation of Jewish law is the Shulchan Aruch (Code of Jewish Law), written by the Sefardi posek Rabbi Yosef Karo who lived in Safed, Israel, with glosses by the Polish Ashenazi posek Rabbi Moshe Isserles.
The Torah is a written Divine document that God presented to the Jewish people on Mount Sinai and which contains all of the mitzvos and other important concepts of Judaism.

Arutz Sheva - Israel National News
He lamented the fact that most of Israel's judges don't use Jewish Jurisprudence in their rulings, due to lack of knowledge and lack of desire.
Justice Rubenstein expressed the hope that indictments would not be served, if at all possible, against soldiers who refuse orders based on their religious beliefs.
Journalist David Bedein told Arutz-7, "It was fantastic to see 250 people, most of them lawyers and most of them very knowledgeable in Judaism, discussing the definition of an illegal order and concluding with a consensus that one must not adhere to such an order.

 The Secular Web - infidels.org
Prominent is a law passed by Augustus Caesar, stating that "the Jews are to follow their own customs in accordance with their ancestral law, just as they did in the time of Hyrcanus, High Priest of the God Most High."[9] Thus, Jewish law was certainly active and applicable in the time of Jesus.
It was thus the holy duty of the Jews to see to the body of Jesus, and it was sacred law that he be buried the day he died, or as soon as possible.
Let him who blasphemes God be stoned to death and hung during the day, and let him be buried dishonorably and out of sight...[and]...when he has continued there for one whole day, that all the people may see him, let him be buried in the night.

 Headcovering in Jewish Law
It is taught that "Father" in this verse refers to God, while "Mother" refers to the nation of Israel.
Another basis given for this practice is to avoid the customs of the non-Jews.
"Your Mother's Torah" refers to religious customs which were established by the Jewish people.

Legal Issues On Child Abuse and Halacha (Jewish Law)
Another worry held by both Jewish community and religious leaders was that the amended law would impede upon the unique role clergy plays in people's lives.
While our tradition holds that God is merciful, justice is a far greater priority--this is how the Jewish tradition understands God.
Usually between three and 10 years, they protect the accused from the consequences of charges grown stale with age, conceived from unreliable memories or based on lost or dead witnesses.

 Torah - Jewish Law
Thus, their Law of God is the current teachings of the Catholic Church (and not always Scripture).
The set of Sacred Jewish Scriptures formed by the acronym for Law (T), Prophets (N), and Writings (Kh or Ch), which now compose the 3 main divisions of the Old Testament for the modern Bible.
Needlless to say, they were soundly condemned by Y'Shua (or Jesus) and the Apostles (for their Babylonian Syncretism--mixing Babylonian gods with Judaism).

The knife used to cut the neck of an animal must be completely free of nicks or imperfections, and it must be razor sharp so that the animal is almost unaware that it has passed through his or her throat.

WorldNetDaily: Sharon`s withdrawal plan violates Jewish law?
The Rabbinical Council of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip released a statement yesterday that the uprooting of settlements is against Jewish law and that no one, including soldiers, should be involved in such an action.
The statement said that according to the Torah, "no person, civilian, soldier or policeman, may aid or actively participate in uprooting settlements or in expulsion of Jews."
"Our statement is that the policy of destroying Jewish settlements in the Land of Israel is immoral and has no basis in democracy and is in conflict with basic and essential human rights," said council secretary Rabbi Mordechai Rabinovitz.
