The Head Heeb: The Saints of Eritrea
The Book of Mormon DOES NOT say the Jaredites are jews.
In the original Book of Mormon, the Jaredites were Jews; in Melekin's scripture, they were Ethiopians.
he says that the jaredites in the Book of Mormon were claimed to be jews, yet his version is that they are ethiopian in truth.

Arabia and the Book of Mormon
The Book of Mormon tells of the brother of Jared, who led his people from the tower of Babel to the New World.
While it may not be proven, there is every chance that the Book of Mormon Jaredites and the Bible Joktanians are one and the same.
The Book of Mormon talks of the Jaredites, a group who left the Bible record soon after the tower of Babel.

An Alternative Model for the Jaredite Trail
The common belief among the LDS community is that the Jaredites crossed Asia and embarked from China.
The Bible defines the empire of Nimrod the Hunter as Babel itself, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, “in the land of Shinar” (Genesis 10:10).
It is also true that Arabic is a vocalized language, where vowels are not written.

The Jaredites were blessed with the preservation of their language after the tower of Babel because of the faith and prayers of both the Brother of Jared, Mahonri Moriancumer, and Jared.
The decrees of God pertaining to the land of promise are for all people, not just the Jaredites.
The Jaredites were guided safely to the Promised Land because of their faith, prayers, and obedience in following the direction of the Lord.

MRM.org - Articles of Interest - DNA and the Book of Mormon Record
According to the Book of Mormon the Jaredites came to the western hemisphere around the time God confounded the languages at the Tower of Babel.
This coincides with Doctrine and Covenants 54:8, which states that the borders of the Lamanites extended to the "land of Missouri."
The Jaredite theory poses another problem if we are to believe the Book of Mormon record for what it actually says.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland : "The brother of Jared may not have had great belief in himself, but his belief in God was unprecedented.
Ether 4:15-19 He promised the blessing of eternal life to those who do these things.
Because of his faith, the Jaredites were blessed to have their language preserved after the tower of Babel, and they were guided safely to the promised land.

 Book of Mormon Parallels
Ether 9:19 says that the Jaredites "had horses, and asses, and there were elephants and cureloms and cumoms; all of which were useful unto man, and more especially the elephants and cureloms and cumoms." The Book of Mormon does not describe these animals, and Mormon scholars have speculated about their identity.
These writings were kept by Alma and his descendants, apparently until Christ's appearance, although the Book of Mormon makes no mention of them during Jesus' ministry.
Moroni added an abridgment of the Book of Ether, containing the history of the Jaredites, to the record of Mormon.

Does Archaeology Support the Book of Mormon - A Survey of the Evidence
Fourth, according to the traditional view of Book of Mormon geography the western hemisphere was unpopulated prior to the coming of the Jaredites.
The view that the Jaredites settled a virgin continent is consistent with Book of Mormon internal evidence.
Written r ecords are a prominent feature of peoples described in the Book of Mormon.

The Years of the Jaredites - FARMS Papers
The Book of Mormon has been in print for 140 years.
The scripture only talks, after all, of the destruction of the Jaredite people as a social entity, not the extinction of the entire population.
This architectural form first appears in the concluding centuries of the fourth millennium B.C. The flood/tower combination of Genesis is undoubtedly derived from the same source as the flood/tower of secular Mesopotamian history.

The revelations and faith of the brother of Jared are given special significance at the beginning and end of the book.
Jared is mentioned at the outset as the founder of the Jaredite people.
Moroni included the book of Ether because his father Mormon had planned to do so (Mosiah 28:19) but for some reason did not complete the project.

Meridian Magazine :: Articles : Book of Mormon Archaeology and Geography
Do the archaeological and historical records of Mesoamerica relating to the Jaredite time period justify the religious history and the worship of deity as contained in the Book of Mormon?
Joseph Smith, 1805-1844, through the power of God, translated the ancient record of the Book of Mormon from records which had been deposited in a hill near his home.
Moroni, the son of Mormon, wrote an account of   Athose ancient inhabitants.@ In other words, he wrote a brief history of the first civilization or mother civilization referred to in the Book of Mormon.

Ether 1:1 an account of those ancient inhabitants…destroyed…upon the face of this north country
Under the patriarchal order, this was very significant and the practice continued among the children of Israel as recorded in the Bible.
Moroni explains that the Jaredites lived and died in the north country.
The land of Desolation, so named because the Jaredites were destroyed there, was defined by Mormon as just north of the narrow neck, bordering the land of Bountiful to the south (Alma 22:29-32).

LDS Creation Model: LDS Objections: Other People Groups Are Primary Ancestors of Native Americans
Over 1000 years before the arrival of the Nephites, the Jaredites, who had their origins at the Tower of Babel, had arrived in the New World according to the Book of Mormon ( Ether 1-2).
After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are the principal ancestors of the American Indians.” ( Book of Mormon:Introduction Preface:1-2)
According to the Book of Mormon introduction, “The other [Jaredites] came much earlier when the Lord confounded the tongues at the Tower of Babel, This group is known as the Jaredites.

They have no covenant to protect them and the land is not theirs if they rebel against the Lord.
The Jaredites were before the Abrahamic covenant so they had no promises from the Lord regarding the preservation of lineage or a promised land for their inheritance.
So, their fate will be the same if they follow in the Jaredite's footsteps.

 Book of Mormon Geography
By turning to the 529th and 530th pages of the book of Mormon you will read Mormon's account of the last great struggle of his people, as they were encamped round this hill Cumorah.
Fletcher Hammond also concluded that "no amount of juggling of the Book of Mormon text can place the hill Ramah-Cumorah in what is now New York state.
In that day, her inhabitants spread from sea to sea.

 In Search of Ancient Cumorah
The one near Palmyra, New York where the Prophet Joseph Smith received the gold plates that were translated into the Book of Mormon and a second one where the great battles recorded in the Book of Mormon took place.
Where two great nations, the Jaredites and the Nephites came to an end and where Mormon hid up all the ancient records "save it were these few plates I give to my son Moroni." (

However, you will see by the following quotes that many Mormon Church leaders have taught (and continue to teach) that over 2,230,000 men did indeed die at the Hill Cumorah in New York.
In view of these Book of Mormon facts one would naturally expect to find some evidences in this section of the country for such wonderful historical events.
In that day, her inhabitants spread from sea to sea, and enjoyed national greatness and glory, nearly fifteen hundred years.

Jaredite - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A prophecy given by Ether is fulfilled, and the last Jaredite king, Coriantumr, lives both to see the total destruction of his people and the arrival of another people to inherit the land.
From the time of the first king to the destruction of the Jaredites, there were only occasional times of peace and prosperity.

 MICHAEL
"Does the LDS church more or less consider the Jaredites as part of the 10 lost tibes of Isreal that became "lost" after the death of Solomon?
JOEL - Events leading to the separation of the ten tribes of Israel are linked to the division of the Israelite monarchy at about 930 B.C. After Shalmanezer overran the kingdom of Israel and held them captive in Assyria, the ten tribes were led to the north where they remain lost to this day.
Therefore, we have the records of the Jews(Bible) and the records of the Nephites(Book of Mormon), which includes the Jaredite records; but are still waiting for that time when the records of the lost ten tribes are found to join them.

Brigham H. Roberts 1904 YMMIA Articles
This date is somewhat in agreement with the time at which the Book of Mormon represents the Jaredites as arriving in the western world.
This conclusion, of course, is based upon the idea that the land Desolation was comparatively but a small country, an idea that, as already remarked, is forced upon the mind from the general tenor of the Book of Mormon references to it.
Subsequently Moroni gave an abridged translation of the same record which he called the "Book of Ether," Ether being the name of the prophet who wrote it.

 DON
DON - I have heard that some believe that the Olmec civilization may correspond to the Jaredites of the Book of Mormon.
A written secular history describing the origin of the Olmecs(which Joseph Smith never read), written about 1600 AD, tells of giant ancestors(Compare to Ether 15:26) who came from a great tower(Ether 1:33) where their language was not confounded(Ether 1:35).
The Olmec civilization existed at about the same time period as the Jaredites.

Book of Mormon Nuggets: Mosiah and Ether
Tvedtnes explains that "since the Nephites had not experienced such 'great destruction' on 'this land,' Mosiah must have had the destruction of the Jaredites in mind."
Indeed, the idea in Mosiah 29:7 of "drawing away" supporters is known in the Book of Mormon only from the Jaredite record (Ether 7:4, 15; 9:11; 10:32).
Since the Book of Ether was not dictated until long after the Book of Mosiah, the high level of agreement between the two books argues against the idea that Joseph Smith just made it all up.

101 Bible Prophecies of the Mormon Church - Ophir and Tarshish
This page covers the evidence that the children of Joktan were none other than the Jaredites of the Book of Mormon.
The Joktanites represent half of the covenant people (the Hebrews) at roughly the time of the tower of Babel, yet they mysteriously disappear from the record.
Evidence suggests that the land of "Ophir" (the brother of Jared) could well be America.

Olmecs and the Book of Mormon
John Sorenson has examined this in some detail in relation to the Jaredites in the Book of Mormon that is worth noting.

These are the Nephites, the main people of the Book of Mormon.
A thousand years after the Jaredite battle on the Hill Ramah, the Nephites and Lamanites battle their way Northward until they arrive at the same hill (now called Cummorah).
Since this is about the same time the Jaredite General, Coriantumr, has slain Shiz, the Mulekites meet up with Coriantumr, who stays with them "nine moons."

 Book of Mormon Chronology
Sorenson, John L., "The Years of the Jaredites." F.A.R.M.S. Paper.
However, its chronology has not been unequivocally tied to other calendars because of uncertainties in biblical dates and lack of details about the Nephite calendars.
Nephites kept careful track of time from at least three reference points:

Were the 'Mound Builders' the Jaredites, Mulekites, Nephites ...
Perhaps someone can give me a good reason to rule them out of any investigation of BOM Peoples.
Does anyone know of evidence that the 'Mound Builders' from Western New York to diverse points in the USA were NOT any of the groups mentioned in the title?
Were the 'Mound Builders' the Jaredites, Mulekites, Nephites and Lamanites of old?
