I Ching - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Partly forgotten due to the rise of Chinese Buddhism during the Tang dynasty, the I Ching returned to the attention of scholars during the Song dynasty.
The I Ching is the oldest of the Chinese classic texts.
Rather than using it as a tool of divination, the characters meditated on its hexagrams as a means for travelling into the astral plane.

 Tao Te Ching - Encyclopedia.WorldSearch
As in the theory of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the Tao Te Ching assumes that ancient times were those of happiness, purity of intentions, full communion with nature, "the times when anyone could look inside the nests of all the birds".
Search of Vacuity is a common concern for many different Asian wisdoms like Taoism, Buddhism, and some aspects of Confucianism.
Using around 5,000 Chinese characters, the Tao Te Ching points out some universal truths which have since been independently recognized in other philosophies, both religious and secular.

I Ching resources: history and archaeology
The texts of the I Ching were collected into book form, and diviners carried it throughout China.
The myth of the I Ching's origins shows how it is built up from the most basic truths: from yin and yang to trigrams; from trigrams to hexagrams and texts.
It actually records many consultations with the I Ching, including the answers it gave, and most (though not all) of the texts it quotes are identical with those we have today.

 I Ching
The I Ching is one of the central texts of Confucianism.
The I CHING or Book of Changes, has been consulted as an oracle and explored as a book of wisdom and philosophy for 3000 years.
On the other, it also established the I Ching at the heart of the traditional Chinese cosmology, a worldview which, to this day, underpins Taoist meditation and even Confucian sacrifice.

 I Ching Oracle
I have attempted to be accurate and faithful to the spirit and personality of the I Ching, but have also been creative in my adaptations.
An ancient Chinese system of divination, the origins of the I Ching are steeped in myth and legend.
You should NOT use the I Ching to ask questions on behalf of another person (although, of course, you can consult the oracle about your own relationship with other individuals).

I Ching Resources: real-life I Ching divination experiences
This site is dedicated to the I Ching as an oracle and to the experience of those who consult it, for it is when the I Ching is questioned that its ancient images become alive and vibrant with meaning.
Every answer the I Ching gives is completely individual and personal; its meaning emerges from the relationship between questioner, question and answer.
The I Ching (Book of Changes) is an extraordinary oracle: complex yet beautifully simple, ancient yet with a strongly modern voice, all-encompassing yet direct and specific, and, above all, dependable.

I Ching (monk) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I Ching (義淨; pinyin Yì Jìng) (635 - 713) was a Chinese Buddhist monk who travelled to India by sea to collect Buddhist texts in Sanskrit.
Not to be confused with the I Ching (易經), the Book of Changes.
These he took back to China and translated into Chinese.

What is the I Ching (Book of Changes)?
The I Ching, also known in the West as The Book of Change, may be the oldest book in the world.
The images have been interpreted from the point of view of many of the world's religions, including Christianity, and they have been related to secular concerns in translations like the one that has guided the affairs of present-day Japan's pre-eminent corporate leader, Matsushita.

Yin & Yang and the I Ching
The text of the I Ching describes the significance of each hexagram and also the special meaning to be attached to the presence of any changing lines.
Nevertheless, the Blue Dragon that symbolizes wood is a principal symbol of yang, while the White Tiger that symbolizes metal is a principal symbol of yin.
When it comes to the five elements, earth, water, and wood are clearly to be associated with yin.

As other reviewers have noted, this is a translation which de-Confucianizes the I-Ching and goes to a literal interpretation of the original text.

For three thousand years, people have sought personal insight and a window on the future from the I Ching, or the Book of Changes, the classic Chinese oracle and book of wisdom.

I Ching or the Book of Changes
Many say its importance equals the Bible, at Christians, but this comparison doesn't resist for at least 3 reasons: I Ching is much older; it's not a religious book; it's an oracle that may be consulted by everyone without the intervention of certain intermediates, priests or experts in sacredness.
You can sign in for free and ask any kind of questions related to the oracle, its usage and way of interpretation of the answers.

The I-Ching does not give definitive answers (similar to Tarot) but enables the inquirer to look within themselves for answers.
The I-Ching is based upon an entire philosophy which is the unified and cyclical universe, the future develops according to fixed laws and numbers.
This then inspired Lau-Tzu (604 BC - 531 BC) who used it for writing of "Tau Teh Ching" which is the central text of Taoism.

I Ching - A Brief History of the I Ching
After the death of King Yu, King Wen's younger son Tan, also known as the Duke of Chou, succeeded to the throne in place of King Yu's heir, his thirteen year old son.
Tan had been thoroughly instructed in the I Ching by his father, and it was he who interpreted the meanings of each of the individual lines of the I Ching.
So profound was the wisdom of King Wen and his sons, wisdom which was gained through the study of the I Ching, that they were able to provide so strong a foundation for their dynasty that it lasted for 800 years, the longest in the history of China.

A more meaningful answer can be obtained if you ask, "What can I expect if I marry now?" Depending on your answer, you might then want to ask, "What can I expect if I marry later?" Intelligent, well thought out questions will be the most rewarding.
The I Ching does not contain a kua or a line that answers "Yes" or "No." But, if you ask a question that requires a yes or no answer such as, "Should I marry now?" and you receive as an answer the kua of "Strong Restraint," your answer would be clear.
You can ask yes or no questions, but there are better ways to phrase your questions.

These speculations, already broached in the commentary called Wên Yen, later formed the bridge connecting the philosophy of the "five stages (elements) of change," as laid down in the Book of History (Shu Ching) with the philosophy of the Book of Changes, which is based solely on the polarity of positive and negative principles.

In particular, the fact that the author has studied under I Ching masters in China, then lived in the Western environment gives him a certain expertise that I have found lacking in other translations.
