Heresy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A number of the beliefs the Catholic Church has come to regard as heretical have to do with Christology, that is, with the nature of Jesus Christ and the relationship between Christ and God the Father.
Irenaeus was the first to argue that his "proto-orthodox" position was the same faith that Jesus gave to the apostles, and that the identity of the apostles, their successors, and the teachings of the same were all well-known public knowledge.
The heretic who is aware that his belief is at odds with Catholic teaching and yet continues to cling to his belief pertinaciously is a formal heretic.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Heresy
The Church's legislation on heresy and heretics is often reproached with cruelty and intolerance.
Heretical teachers were forbidden to propagate their doctrines publicly or privately; to hold public disputations; to ordain bishops, presbyters, or any other clergy; to hold religious meetings; to build conventicles or to avail themselves of money bequeathed to them for that purpose.
The subject-matter of both faith and heresy is, therefore, the deposit of the faith, that is, the sum total of truths revealed in Scripture and Tradition as proposed to our belief by the Church.

 Part1, Book 7, chapters42-51
For if a heretic pope is tolerated by the church, either he is tolerated by the catholic church or by a church which is heretic and schismatic.
For since a heretic pope attacks the faith, and according to the Apostle "the faith is one"[Ephesians 4:5], that is the reason why all Catholics must wage war against a heretic pope as a common cause which unites them all.
Therefore the universal church will never tolerate the treachery of heresy in a heretic pope, since by knowingly tolerating heretical wickedness in the pope it would become a schismatic church, because a church, which knowingly supports a schismatic, is a schismatic church.

Are Protestantism and Roman Catholicism Heretical?
From time to time, heretics and schismatics have cut themselves off and have fallen away from the One and indivisible Church of Christ, whereby they ceased to be members of the Church and parts of Her Theanthropic Body.
It is to be noted, therefore, that the leaders of these heretics, well knowing the doctrine of the Eastern Church, declare that she maintains the same as they themselves do in what concerns God and divine things; but of set purpose do they malign us, chiefly to deceive the more simple.
Background: This is subtitled: "A confession and proclamation of the Orthodox piety of the Christians, in which all the impieties of the heretics are overthrown and the definitions of the Catholic Church of Christ are sustained.

 Heretical pope - Robert Bellarmine
A heretical Pope is not ipso facto deposed; he must be deposed by a formal declaration made by the Church.
A movement thereupon began that swept through the entire Church, which was directed against the Pope and which declared him to be suspect of heresy, and at the same time entreated him to turn back under pain of losing his pontificate.

 Sedevacantism - A Heretical Pope?
Robert Bellarmine taught: "The manifestly heretical pope ceases per se to be pope and head as he ceases per se to be a Christian and member of the Church, and therefore he can be judged and punished by the Church.
The question of whether the Holy See is vacant must be considered from three aspects, that is whether a pope could become an heretic and forfeit his office; what constitutes heresy; and whether any of the conciliar popes can be considered to be heretics within the context of this definition.

In this case, there seems to be significant evidence to show that some, at least, of the "faith" teachers have a heretical view of God, as well as a heretical view of the nature of the believer.
Nevertheless, there also appears to be evidence that not all of the "faith" teachers are heretical in the same sense as, say, Mormonism or Armstrongism.
Many of the "faith" teachers affirm the essentials, but then go on to teach doctrines which undermine their professed orthodoxy; their doctrine is aberrational and false.

WHY IT IS PERFECTLY OK TO CALL HERETICAL PRETERISTS NAUGHTY NAMES
Heretical preterists have a good deal of trouble doing this, because Hymenaeus and Philetus believed back then exactly what the hyperpreterists believe now: the resurrection of the dead has already occurred.
I was recently taken aback when I discovered that an heretical preterist that I knew decided not to attend the annual Southern House Church Conference that I help sponsor, because I had told him via email that he was "gangrenous".
However, like the Manicheans, the heretical preterists believe that from now on, evil will always be here.

The priests of the CMRI are heretics first and foremost for their obstinate denial of the solemnly defined dogma that the Catholic Faith is necessary for salvation.

As with the Christian materials, it is what we today would call sexual orientation that determines both orthodoxy and heresy, and, once again, it is heterosexuality that is heretical.

The Orthodox churches generally see the Latin "Catholics" as being heretical schismatics who left the "true catholic and apostolic church" (See, Great Schism).
The Patriarchs of Eastern Orthodoxy are autocephalous hierarchs, which roughly means that each of them is independent of the direct oversight of another bishop (although still subject to their synod of bishops as a whole).

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Christianity
A priori, we should expect that a religious system which was revealed and instituted, not by a prophet or even an angel, but by the personal action of God Himself, and was designed, moreover, to supplant an imperfect and provisional form of religion, would lack nothing of possible perfection in end or means.
We are compelled, therefore, to believe that the Christian revelation closed with the death of the last of those originally commissioned to set it forth.
Moreover, the Christianity of which we speak is that which we find realized in the Catholic Church alone; hence, we are not concerned here with those forms which are embodied in the various non-Catholic Christian sects, whether schismatical or heretical.
