Hadith - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hadith Qudsi form a partial exception; this small minority of hadith purports to express words spoken by God to Muhammad but not included in the Qur'an, or the sense of them.
Muslims who accept hadith believe that trusted hadith are in most cases the words of Muhammad and not the word of God, like the Qur'an.
Hadith (Arabic: الحديث, Arabic pl. ahadith "أحاديث"; in English academic usage, hadith is often both singular and plural, and sometimes spelled haddith) are traditions relating to the sayings and doings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

Chapter 2 - Hadith as the second Primary Source of Islamic Law
Al-Hadith al-Nabawi' (the Prophet's Hadith) and al-Hadith al-Qudsi (the Sacred Hadith).
Hadith is not necessarily the exact words spoken by the Prophet (s.a.w.s.), while the Holy Qur'an is the actual words of Allah.
The Holy Qur'an without the Hadith or Sunnah of the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) remains unintelligible in certain instances and in view of that, the Holy Qur'an has, in several verses, ordered Muslims to follow the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) in all his deeds and sayings.

The knowledge of the correct practice is known as sunna, which also is a word often used interchangeably with hadiths.
But the real collections of what today is known as hadiths, became a systematic science not before about 2 centuries after the death of Muhammad.
When the revelations that Muhammad received ended with his death in 632, many Muslims felt that there were questions that would be enlightened, or even answered, if one had more information on what was the correct practice in different situations.

Thus Hadith literature means the literature of which consists of the narrations of the life of the Prophet and the things approved by him.
The exposition of Islam in the 7th and 8th centuries confronted Islamic Scholars with a daunting task to preserve the knowledge of the Sunnah of the Prophet.

 Hadith Authenticity
Thus, in Islam the hadith are the recorded traditions of the divinely inspired actions of Muhammad.
Islam is the sunna, the concept of the practice of Muhammad, as embodied in the hadith and transmitted faithfully by Muhammad's followers through the succeeding generations down to the present.
The basis of Islamic law or shari'a is, however, to be found in the hadith - giving the hadith a fundamental importance in the religion of Islam.

 Forty Hadith Qudsi(Translation)
Hadith Qudsi are the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) as revealed to him by the Almighty Allah.
Hadith Qudsi (or Sacred Hadith) are so named because, unlike the majority of Hadith which are Prophetic Hadith, their authority (Sanad) is traced back not to the Prophet but to the Almighty.
Prophetic explanation of this Sacred Hadith: He who likes to meet Allah, Allah likes to meet him; and he who dislikes to meet Allah, Allah dislikes to meet him.

 The Hadith
The Hadith, however, though the words of the inspired prophet Muhammad, are not necessarily infallible.
The Hadith, in Islam, is second in authority only to the Qur'an.
These sunnah were transmitted by word of mouth down through the centuries having been memorized first by Muhammad's companions and then later by subsequent Muslims.

Muslims also believed that the hadiths are also divinely inspired.

The Hadith (meaning "Traditions") is a collection of early Muslim traditions - a bit like the writings of the Catholic fathers to the Catholic Church - which record the words and deeds of Muhammad according to his wives, family members, friends and Muslim leaders which are not usually found in the Koran.
This Hadith is clear that Muhammad's disciples praised him because his sins were forgiven and not because he did not have any sins to forgive.
The hadith even claims that Muhammad saw Yah'shua (Jesus) in a dream and that Yah'shua (Jesus) was a white man with straight hair (9:242).

During the lifetime of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and after his death, his Companions (Sahabah) used to refer to him directly, when quoting his sayings.

 Hadith
Islamic tradition divides the hadith into two types: the hadith nabawi, which are sayings that Muhammad made on his own, and the hadith qudsi, which are sayings that Muhammad made through divine inspiration.
The form of a hadith, then, is always preceded by an account of the transmission of the saying and then the content of the saying itself.
In both the formulation of the Shari'ah and in Islamic tradition in general, it is the sayings of Muhammad, or hadith, that are especially important.

 HADITH
The hadiths were never written down in the presence of the Prophet and neither was the Prophet present to supervise the `transmission' of any of his sayings.
The hadith writers come up with the retort that the Prophet said what he said in order to prevent his followers from confusing the Quran, which was still being revealed at that time, with the hadith.
Not only did it contradict their own claim that the hadith were already being recorded during the lifetime of the Prophet; several documents of the Prophet, such as the Medina Charter, his treaties and letters, had been written on his orders.

HADITH [hadith], a tradition or the collection of the traditions of Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, including his sayings and deeds, and his tacit approval of what was said or done in his presence.
Hadith, as a discipline, consists of two branches, the first concerned with the validation of the individual traditions through the process of biographic examination of its chain of transmitters back to the Prophet (isnad), and the second concentrating on the actual content of the validated traditions (matn) as a source of religious authority.
Since the formalization of Islam, this source of authority has been viewed as second only to the Qur'an.
