Goddess movement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although Goddess appears to mirror monotheism, the term is frequently used for an inclusive spirituality that may embrace the God, gods, goddesses, ancestral spirits, faerie etc. When Goddess is spoken of as a personal guardian, as in 'my Goddess' it means 'my worldview in Goddess spirituality.' The Goddess is also followed by
The Goddess movement is a religious movement in the West focussed on
Kali, known as Kali-Ma (Mother Kali) by her devotees, is often mistaken as a cruel goddess by those ignorant of the Hindu tradition.

 Goddess Spirituality
The goddess spirituality is also a polytheistic spirituality because the various ancient goddesses or goddesses of different cultures are seen as the manifestations of the one reality.
The adherents of goddess spirituality seek for the divine in nature, rejecting a transcendent God.
His contribution to goddess spirituality was an understanding of the goddess having a triple aspect related to the nature of the moon.

The Role of Feminism In The New Age Movement & Goddess Religion
Another aspect of the New Age movement is the principal that all people and all things come form the divine (York, 1995).
It is my opinion that the empowerment of the feminist movement gave women the opportunity to seek out alternate and less “main stream” forms of spirituality, rather than this spiritual movement being the result of a “femi-nazi” mentality.
It has been proposed that the new religious movement toward goddess worship is the result of the feminist movement.

 THE GODDESS MYTH
When the Goddess serves as the figurehead for activists seeking to transform modern society, including the Church, the veracity of her story is crucial.
Goddess books describe palaeolithic cave burials as being replete with Goddess symbolism, but they never mention the fact that almost all of these ceremonial burials contain male skeletons.
Moreover, when we compare the Goddess books with the actual reports of professional anthropologists and archaeologists, we consistently ford an astonishing level of discrepancy between the evidence we actually possess from the ancient cultures, and the claims made about them in the Goddess movement.

 Goddess
The leading pioneer of the goddess movement is the archaeologist Marija Gimbutas, who has spent thirty years studying patterns and symbols of cult objects and also developed the field she refers to as "archeomythology," which embodies the fields of archaeology, comparative mythology, and folklore.
This was allegedly a peace-loving, egalitarian society spread across the whole of Europe, wherein the Mother Goddess was worshipped as the center of religion.
A culture may worship the "Great Goddess" and therefore consider females as the creators of all life, while another culture may believe females to be the only creators of life but not necessarily believe in the "Great Goddess." One need not imply the other.

 Intro: Vision Statement
Goddess studies, Goddess community and Her guidance have shown me the pathway to spiritual service in Her name.
Within two years of the vision, the Goddess movement was birthing in Central Texas, and I was a weaver of that web.
I connected with Goddess women, co-founded the Texas Cella group in 1992, and dedicated myself to the priestess path.

 Goddess Movement, The
In Goddess spirituality, the cycles of nature are worshipped and celebrated - winter, spring, summer and autumn - and are viewed as metaphors for birth, growth, fading and death.
To oversimplify the Goddess: There are no rules, except freedom; there is no bible, no major doctrine; what has survived of ancient Goddess religions has come down in fragments.
So the Goddess is becoming more prevalent." Robyn, who also was raised Jewish and now practices in the Wiccan tradition, adds that, "Women are looking for their power.

 Wimmin, Wiccans, and Goddess Worship
The goddess movement, also called the women-spirit movement, apparently considers its first major gathering to have been a conference attended by about 1,200 women at the University of Massachusetts in late 1975...
A self-described witch...the goddess movement knows her more as a leader of the Susan B. Anthony Coven No. 1 in Los Angeles and a charismatic spokeswoman for a feminist brand of Wicca, an ancient women's religion [witchcraft].
The cult of the Goddess is a dominant motif in the recovery of women's religious roots.

 TWPT Talks with Patricia Monaghan
I was drawn from childhood to stories of the goddess, although at the time I simply thought of it as 'mythology' rather than a living, or potentially living, religion.
What kinds of people are being drawn to the Goddess and what are some of the reasons that you are hearing as to why they are coming now.
Some people are brought into the goddess movement, or into Wicca, by meeting others who are further along the path than them.

The Return of the Mother Goddess
THE WARMTH OF THE GODDESS MOVEMENT: “The mysteries of the Goddess as a living tradition were revealed to me through ritual of two pagan communities of California: Reclaiming, and the Church of All Worlds.
BACK TO ISIS: “One purpose of this book we hope is to inspire those with an allegiance to a later tradition to breathe new life into it, knowing that it is part of an unbroken chain of allegiance to the Mother of the universe in Her many forms.
Their welcoming acceptance of me affirmed the values of the Goddess spirituality,” (p.

Kathleen Parker: Goddess craze gone goofy
Fast forwarding from "I am woman, hear me roar" to "I am goddess, back off Bubba," the goddess movement is a logical extension of the narcissistic self-esteem movement.
Brown's book - the new bible for Ya-Ya sisterhoods everywhere - curtseys to the notion that modern western religion is part of a male conspiracy, facilitated by metal weaponry and the Vatican, to keep women down.
Any time three or more women gather these days, the goddess word is likely to bubble up.

Motherpeace Tarot :: Creations :: Vicki Noble's Literary Works :: The Double Goddess
During the five years it has taken me to compile and write (and rewrite) this book, I have noticed that certain key questions consistently emerge from the audiences who view my slide lectures, or the readers who have looked over various drafts of the book along the way.
At exactly the same time, the media has professed (over and over again in a tiresome effort to convince us) that feminism is dead, and that the Goddess is no longer fashionable for the hip, postmodern women of today.
The double female figures discussed in this book have never before been collected altogether and viewed coherently in terms of their sheer numbers, geographic distribution, and historical written references.
