Father Damien - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Catholicism, Father Damien is the spiritual patron of people with leprosy, outcasts, and those with HIV/AIDS, and of the State of Hawaii.
Damien's first course of action was to build a church and establish the Parish of Saint Philomena.
There, Damien was ordained to the priesthood on May 24, 1864 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace, a church established by his religious order.
