Ezekiel the Prophet of the Hebrew Scriptures is depicted on a 1510 Sistine Chapel fresco by Michelangelo.
Ezekiel or Yechezkel (יְחֶזְקֵאל "God will strengthen", Standard Hebrew Yəḥezqel, Tiberian Hebrew Yəḥezqêl) was a prophet in the Hebrew Bible, commonly regarded as the author of the biblical Book of Ezekiel.
Those redeemed were to form the congregation of the new Temple, and to exemplify by their lives the truth of the word that Israel was destined to become a "kingdom of priests" (Exodus 19:6).

The book is a collection of oracles emanating from the career of the priest Ezekiel, who preached to Jews of the Babylonian captivity from 593 BC to 563 BC (according to the chronology given in the book itself in chapters 1 and 2).
These chapters include Ezekiel's symbolic actions, his indictment of Judah and Israel, the abomination in the Jerusalem Temple, and the vision of the chariot-throne, which is significant for later Jewish mysticism.

It seemed to Ezekiel that consequently there must be a second entrance which he had not seen, and this added to the circumstance that one or two lounging figures who had been approaching unaccountably disappeared before reaching the veranda, induced him to rise and examine the locality.
She was surprised to find a light burning in the kitchen, and Ezekiel, their hired man, awaiting her in a dominant and nasal key of religious and practical disapprobation.
With these thoughts called up by the unlooked-for advent of Ezekiel under his roof, he continued to gaze moodily into the garden.

Ezekiel, the third of the great Hebrew prophets, was the son of the priest Buzi.
When Jerusalem was taken by Nebuchadnezzar in 597 B.C. (2 Kings xxiv, 8-16; Jeremiah xxix, 1-2; Ezekiel xvii, 12; xix, 9), Ezekiel was carried captive along with Jehoiachin, or Jeconiah, king of Judah, and thousands of other Jewish prisoners, to Babylonia, or as he himself calls it, "the land of the Chaldeans." (Ezekiel i, 3).
Here, along with his exiled fellow-countrymen, he lived on the banks of the river Chebar (Ezekiel i, 1-3), in a house of his own (viii, i).

Ezekiel, “The Spirit came into me and made me stand up and I heard the Lord speaking to me.” He knew that people had rebelled against him and yet his final words, “Whether they listen or not this set of rebels shall know there is a prophet among them.”
The challenge, which the Lord gives us today, is whether we are going to be like the people of his hometown, where he could work no miracle because of their lack of faith, or we are going to be unconditional.
We notice the same rejection experienced by Ezekiel and his subsequent determination is also experienced by Jesus when he goes to his hometown.

The Assembly itself acted to expel two government supporters from its own membership, on what were acceptable legal grounds of that day -- though the expulsion of one of them, Ezekiel Hart, a Jewish merchant of Trois Rivières, also smacked of religious prejudice.
Under men like Pierre Bédard and Jean-Thomas Taschereau, keen-minded lawyers, Le Canadien not only attacked government favoritism and corrupt land deals, but suggested a potent idea for the future; that members of the government might be held responsible to the elected assembly.
The expulsions, in fact, helped make the general election of 1808 violent, while Craig saw disruptive French democratic nationalism behind it all.
