In Greek mythology, Euphemus was the son of Europa and Poseidon.
Medea prophesied that he would one day rule Libya when she was on the Argos with Jason and the Argonauts; Euphemus was the helmsman.
Her prophesy came true when Battus, a descendant of Euphemus, founded Cyrene, the capital of Libya.
