 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Hermits
Monasteries frequently, though by no means always, sprang from the cell of a hermit, who drew a band of disciples around him.
Those who felt the want of solitude were advised to reside near an oratory or a monastic church.
Not all of them, however, sought so complete a solitude as to avoid absolutely any intercourse with their fellow-men.

 The Eremites
Eremites see Mankind as sacred, especially those who possess Religarum.
The Eremite’s presence causes images of Christ or the Virgin Mary to be seen in an area and can spark Religarum in the faithful humans that see it.
The other half of the Eremites do not subscribe to the existence of God, per se, but do see the Crucible as a place where gods are made.

 Episode One Hundred Sixteen
Eremites dressed in dark blue robes filed neatly out of the massive, solid building next to my temple and lined the sides of the broad avenue leading from the gateway to where my Patron, my Mentor, and I stood.
My bed chamber was lit softly with predawn light when I awoke but Adreanna had already left to fulfill her obligations to the Eremites.
I had barely known Anath and still I missed him.

 Eremite Codex
Eremites follow the ancient caste system of their people.
The Eremite Eldar have come to an understanding with the few Exodite worlds that lie within the bounds of the Confederation.
An ArchMage may be in command of an Eremite Army as long as it is primarily composed of Religious or Journeyman Caste; it may include up to one Warrior Caste Triad.

The people, high and low, felt that Bishops who rode to the Diet accompanied by their concubines disguised in men's clothing, and parish priests who were tavern-keepers or the most frequent customers at the village public-house, were not true spiritual guides.
The Augustinian Eremites, as has been already said, were divided into the unreformed and the reformed convents-the latter being united in an association which was called the Congregation.
Some distinguished teachers, outside the Augustinian Eremites, were induced to come, among others Jerome Schürf from Tübingen ; Staupitz collected promising young monks from convents of his Order and enrolled them as students; other youths were attracted by the teachers and came from various parts of Germany.

Not every Eremite observed the rule of wearing a beard.
Pangerl held the opinion that the Eremites of Heuraffl "lead peaceful secluded lives in the first half of the 15th century, isolated from the rest of the world".
As the Paulines' hermitage was on marshland to the north of the church, they expressed a wish to move their cells closer to those of the Eremites and live together under common leadership and were given consent by the Pope.

MARTIN LUTHER - LoveToKnow Article on MARTIN LUTHER
It was the momentary power of the second which drove him into the convent, and he selected the monastic order which represented all that was best in the revival of the latter half of the 15th centurythe Augustinian Eremites.
He denounced monastic vows, a distinctive dress for the clergy, the thought of a propitiatory mass, and the presence of images and pictures in the churches.
All these influences abounded as Luther was growing to manhood and laid their marks upon him.

And in some other place, they stood before a mirrored twilight, knowing naught that though dawn did arise, the land was hence cast into darkness.
The eremites watched in awe, never before having witnessed such a sacred ceremony, the Luminaris holding more reverence than awe.
With black banner flying and swords raised, glinting maliciously in the sullied dawn, they infiltrated the holy temple with little ceremony or decorum.

Christian eremitical writers during the Patristic period of Christian development remarked this set of facts for the edification of their spiritual progeny inside and outside the Church.

1996 AAS Abstracts: China Session 170
Just as Confucian temples housed images of Confucius and his disciples and were closely associated with schools, academies were frequently built around shrines that venerated a wide range of figures, including military leaders and eremites, as well as neo-Confucian scholars.
Academy shrines might also be seen as responses to shrines erected to popular deities, venerating figures that symbolized common values shared by the scholarly elite, including eremites and upright officials, as well as military heroes and neo-Confucian worthies.
The veneration of individuals at academy shrines mirrored shrine halls at Buddhist temples, much as the lecture platforms at Buddhist temples replicated the lecture halls at academies.

 The Maronite Hermits
Even when living in solitude, the hermit remains a member of the monastic community, obedient to his superior should he be asked to resume monastic life.
In fact "in these monasteries, the monks were divided into three categories: lay brothers, priests and hermits" (Dib 1971: 221).
The hermitic life in the Maronite church continued to prosper but now it was organized and regulated by established monastic rules.

It is supposed that the eremites and the fugitive priests who escaped from the Turks lived in the space next to the today's church.
Those priests lived there till the middle of 19 th century.
The legend says that the church was built when the eremites found the picture on the wooden cross floating next to the cliffs.

For Reagan, religion was not an elusive private affair or a mystical revelation that the ancient desert eremites might have recognized, it was part of the quantifiable material world.
Religion was true because it "worked." Americans want religion to pay off and give us a competitive edge.

 Tubd-a-Scrubd-art
This was a holdover from the early Church, where ascetics and eremites would refrain from bathing as a way of mortifying the flesh.
The Church decried bathing as a luxury and a sinful indulgence, and it is from documents recording this stance that the popular misconception that medieval people did not bathe is most likely to have arisen.
The Benedictine Rule stated that the sick were allowed to take baths as often as they needed, but for those in good health baths would be tolerated only rarely.

THE man who shook the foundations of the Catholic church until it fell apart is the subject of this welcome revival of John Osborne's impassioned play, which marks its first London production for 30 years.
The year is 1506, the place is the Augustinian Order of Eremites convent at Erfurt, Germany, and the 34year-old Luther, the son of a peasant, is celebrating his first mass at the monastery.

 Ryszard Przybylski &ndash Polska 2000
Aside from studies of his favorite authors (Dostoyevsky, Mandelstam and Jaroslaw Iwaszkiewicz), he has also written an artistic biography of Chopin, The Shadow of the Swallow, and a consideration of the spirituality of early Christianity (Eremites and Demons).
Przybylski's whole essayistic output is a protest against the vulgarity of today's world, a refusal to accept the loss of beauty and the moral order.

The Life of Christ - Chapter 12
He willed that they should be husbands, and fathers, and citizens, not eremites or monks.
He would show that he approved the brightness of pure society, and the mirth of innocent gatherings, no less than the ecstacies of the ascetic in the wilderness, or the visions of the mystic in his solitary cell.

 E. Trolda: Vincenzo Albrici
Owing to this is the lexical information (Eitner, Riemann, Pazdírek), that Albrici conducted the music in the St. Augustinian church in Prague very dubious, more particularly when there is no church with that name in Prague.
But in the archives of the Augustinian eremites I have found no record about Albrici, and in Navrátil's monograph over Karlov he is not mentioned either, notwithstanding the musicians of the order are listed there and even the specification of the organ is mentioned.

 Final thoughts on Rome 1
Next a dude named Pompey comes along, who manages to unify the Eremites' two agendas: the middle east and Rome.
He is finally defeated through two tactics: The Eremites refuse to fight him by not allowing his army to attack any of thiers, and by attacking Carthage proper.
What happened was that the Eremites came in, slipped under the noses of these three prides, and caused a revolt of the Etruscans with a guy named Brutus in about 527 BC.

 The Spirit's Love
By prayer, we enter into the divine mysteries and get to understand life as a whole - with the understanding of human nature (our own and others) placed within its context and perspective.
But remember that it is in solitude that we get that gift of understanding from the Holy Spirit and are able to apply it in our dealings with the outside world.
Some say the eremites were so solitary that they have no inkling whatsoever as to how human relationships work.

The Magdalen, of course, hole up in the Catholic Church as historians and record keepers, though severely reduced in power as their main source of Religarium is taken away (the loss of the Mystery Cults and the Roman State Religion (Jupiter, Pluto, etc.)).
This could certainly be part of the reason behind the push for "heathen" conversion...as the Eremites took control as Scepter, they turned towards gathering more power.
I personally believe it must have been a joint venture of some small part...

In what could otherwise be a fine painting by Kasimir Malevich, Upart inserts two reduced, but still figurative human forms, wandering a forest seemingly suffused by Holy Presence.
Two Monks in the Forest reconciles the uneasiness that has often resulted where decorative and figurative approaches meet.
Here, the terse delineation of the human eremites lends mortal presence in a strongly geometric composition.

 Re: Eremites
The Eremites in 1st Edition were a humano-centric Pride, that believed the Earth belonged to humanity, who should all be able to reach an Immortality based on the Crucible itself (little did they know back then that the humanity is already made from the new Crucible so to speak).
They very much spend a lot of time shepherding over the flock of humanity and the living souls of the world, looking for corruption and destroying it where they can lest it taint the chances of Earth becoming heaven.
Poor guys have had a tough time swallowing what they've found out about the One Soul and the fact it provides for both people and animals.
