 Dogma Info - Encyclopedia WikiWhat.com
Dogma is also the name of a movie comedy, directed and with screenplay by Kevin Smith, starring amongst others George Carlin as a Cardinal, Alanis Morissette as God, and Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as a duo of fallen angels.
Dogma eminently distinguishes itself from theological opinions, or beliefs, about which the faithful are free to disagree, for its absolute character; as a fundamental part of the religion, it cannot be disputed, revised or otherwise doubted, but has to be respected by faith.
Typically in Christian theology, but in many other religions' theologies too, a dogma is an absolute theological foundation, that must be strictly held as an indisputable principle in order to be a faithful follower of that religion.

Dogma (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Back when I made "Dogma", I always maintained that another movie about religion wouldn't be forthcoming, as "Dogma" was the product of 28 years of religious and spiritual meditation, and I'd kinda shot my wad on the subject.
The major theme of the film is about modern people regaining their faith in God, and the danger in faith (an idea) being confused with dogma (a belief).
Dogma is a 1999 comedy film, written and directed by Kevin Smith, who stars in the film along with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Linda Fiorentino, Alan Rickman, Salma Hayek, Chris Rock, Jason Lee, Jason Mewes, George Carlin, Janeane Garofalo, and Alanis Morissette.

 Review: Kevin Smith's Dogma
Dogma was supposed to be filmed second, but KS decided it was just to good and should wait untill he could get the resources to make his BAD ASS movie.
Dogma is at its best when it satirizes and questions the theological aspects of the Bible.
thats just an odd thing to say, expecially since Dogma was written at the SAME TIME as Clerks.

 Dogma
If anything, Dogma positively encourages the notion of having some sort of faith - in God, or Buddha, or Allah, or whatever - while taking pot shots at the many hypocrites who hold a bible in one hand and a kalashnikov in the other.
Basically, they didn't like the idea of their beliefs being mocked but the problem (as is often the case in these situations) was that they didn't actually bother to sit down and watch the movie before condemning it.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck star as Loki and Bartleby, two angels cast out of heaven for past misdemeanours and who have been banished to walk the earth for thousands of years, making side-splitting wisecracks as they go.

Unfortunately, if they use the required loophole in religious Dogma, they'll prove God fallible and undo the very fabric of the universe, ending all existence.
On the DVD: Dogma's budget outstripped the early Smith films by miles, and the 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen transfer does it justice, with divine colour and heavenly sound.
Though it may not be wholly miraculous, this is still a righteous movie; and, in comparison with the average big-buck formulaic Hollywood evil, it's practically saintly.

Dogma is first and foremost a movie, and a very entertaining one at that.
What better way to talk about God to people who would otherwise avoid church like the plague than to insert it fully in a movie made for them?
If you are paying attention, Dogma also raises some fascinating questions about the nature of God and Christianity, which was one of Smith's goals.

dogma is an awsome movie as well as the rest of the view askew productions and anyone who thinks diferently is a prude or has little to no sense of humor.
In some ways Dogma is a shaggy dog of a road movie--which hits a comic peak when Affleck and Fiorentino banter drunkenly on a train to New Jersey, not realizing they're mortal enemies--and segues into a comedy-action flick as the vengeful angels (who have a taste for blood) try to make their way into heaven.
