Continuing Anglican Movement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
These are the Anglican Catholic Church, the Diocese of Christ the King (later renamed the Anglican Province of Christ the King), and the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada.
The Continuing Anglican Movement is a group of Christian churches which follow the Anglican tradition but which split from one or another province of the Anglican Communion because of its perceived rejection of orthodoxy.

At the founding of the Continuing Anglican Movement in 1977, a proposed constitution for the new Anglican Church in North America was put before the four existing dioceses for ratification.

An Informed (Anglican) Conscience and Its Problems
Yet, for the devout Anglican living in the sphere of the continuing Anglican movement, one aspect of an informed conscience that constantly returns to make him feel insecure and guilty is the conviction that he ought to be within the Anglican Communion of Churches and in communion with the See of Canterbury.
From the Anglican Formularies [The Book of Common Prayer, the Ordinal and the Articles of Religion] the education of conscience continues in the context of worship, prayer and service.
The Continuing Churches began as a temporary measure to preserve the Anglican Way, with the specific goal of reestablishing a proper and faithful communion with the see of Canterbury and with the Anglican Communion in general.

Anglicans have sought the stamp of approval and validity from the Orthodox Church, almost from the very beginning of the Church of England.
Additionally their stories inspire us to continue to struggle to make sense of our religious faith and experience in a world that seems indifferent and hostile, knowing that inevitably, the Church is in the hands of God.
As an Anglican I believed the undivided church did not accept papal infallibility (that the pope, when speaking to the entire church, from the throne of St. Peter, on a matter of faith and morals, cannot error—declared dogma by Vatican Council I and reaffirmed by Vatican II).

The growth of a ‘Tractarian’ movement drawing attention to the affinities of Anglicanism with the pre-Reformation Church.
Anglicanism, historically speaking, has always played a corrective role, whether as restoring a more primitive and authentic form of the Faith against the errors of the Western Church of the Middle Ages, or as reintroducing Catholic(?) truth against Protestant inadequacies.
The Anglican instinct, for example, was to preserve the Catholic ministries of bishops, priest, and deacons which Frankish ecclesiology had also been careful to preserve.

 Anglo-Catholicism
One of the ironies of the movement, and one of its weaknesses, is that although it all hung on Anglicanism’s nearly unique claim among Reformation-era churches to have retained the Catholic apostolic succession of bishops, historically very few Anglican bishops have supported the movement.
This place was a part of Anglo-Catholicism, an over 150-year-old movement in Anglicanism that had set for itself the quixotic goal of undoing the Protestant ‘Reformation’ among English-speaking people and after cleaning their church of heresy, presenting it for restoration of Catholic communion.
First, not all that glitters is gold: what happened in Anglicanism as Anglo-Catholicism became larger and more noticeable in church life was not the conversion of most Anglicans to Catholicism but rather a toleration of Catholic trappings and of Anglo-Catholic beliefs as opinion, not essential matters of faith.
