Nalandabodhi Teachers & Teachings Buddhism A Science of Mind
Buddhadharma is not a religion in the everyday connotation of the word.
The teachings of Lord Buddha Shakyamuni, which we often refer to by the Sanskrit term buddhadharma, set forth a path that frees one from disturbing emotions and fundamental ignorance.
In this sense, Buddhist spirituality is not what is ordinarily meant by the term "religion." It is rather closer to a humanistic science, a pure and genuine philosophy of humanity and science which works with the two sides of our samsaric mind, the negative aspect and the positive aspect of our mind.

 About Shambhala Prison Community
The SPC derives from the buddhist spiritual tradition, in particular the Karma Kagyu and Nyingma branches of Tibetan buddhadharma, and the Shambhala teachings, as expounded by the Ven.
The SPC offers basic training in the form of the sitting practice of meditation, as taught by the Buddha Shakyamuni 2,500 years ago, and passed on from teacher to student in an unbroken line since that time.
At the same time, Trungpa Rinpoche said that if the insights of meditation are valid, then they should be expressible in purely human terms.

Commentary on The Foundation of All Good Qualities
Inner Dharma means Buddhadharma; outer Dharma refers to the non-Buddhist religions, the religions followed by non-Buddhists.
Within Buddhadharma itself there are four types of different doctrine that I mentioned at the beginning: Vaibhashika, Sautrantika, Cittamatra and Madhyamaka.
All the many non-Buddhist religions have their qualities, but they’re not like Buddhadharma.

In terms of teachings in general, there are two types: Buddhadharma and the teachings of the outsiders [Skt: tirthika; Tib: mu-teg-pa]2, which are based on mistaken beliefs, understandings opposite to those of Buddhadharma.
Therefore, simply saying that Buddhadharma is the best religion in the world doesn’t make it so.
In those countries there existed only one aspect of the Buddhadharma, not all; but in Tibet, all aspects of the teaching existed—Hinayana, Sutrayana and Vajrayana.

 Tibetan Literature
Many thousands of Buddhist texts were translated from Sanskrit and other Indian languages into Tibetan, and the slow infusion of stories, aspirations, inquiry, and contemplation into the language and culture of Tibet provided the ground from which the richness of liberating practice grew in such bounty.
The Buddhist culture of India bequeathed a particularly rich transmission of Buddhadharma to Tibet where it flourished for many centuries.
Translated into familiar words and meaningful expressions, the Buddhadharma crossed the Asian continent and permeated the lives of people throughout Central and Southeast Asia, China, Korea, and Japan, the Indonesian archipelago, the Tibetan cultural area, and Russia’s Asian frontiers.

 Buddhism - Open Encyclopedia
A Buddha is any human being who has fully awakened to the true nature of existence, whose insight has totally transformed him or her beyond birth, death, and subsequent rebirth, and who is enabled to help others achieve the same enlightenment.
The principles by which a person can be led to enlightenment are known as the Buddhadharma, or simply the Dharma.
Dharma in this sense of the rather complex term means, "law, doctrine, or truth." Anyone can attain what the Buddha attained regardless of age, gender, or caste.

Excerpt: Cave of Tigers - The Practice of Everyday Life
The word "Buddha" in Buddhadharma points to the intrinsic truth, the absolute; "Dharma" points to the experiential truth, the world of differentiation.
Intrinsically, all beings are buddhas from the very beginning, but until this truth is manifested experientially in the world, it is not the actualized Buddhadharma.
When all dharmas are Buddhadharma, there is life and death, enlightenment and delusion, practice, buddhas and creatures.
