The Book of Ruth is a book in the Hebrew Bible known to Jews as the Tanakh and to Christians as the Old Testament.
It is the shortest book in the Hebrew Bible, the books of the Minor Prophets being considered a single book.
The lineage connection between Ruth and David is very important in the Christian faith for Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary who was of the lineage of David thus making Ruth connected to Jesus Christ.
