Such a person may live the Consecrated Life (that is, as a monk or nun according to Church Law) or not (for example, as an oblate).
A Benedictine is a person who follows the Rule of St Benedict.

BENEDICTINES - LoveToKnow Article on BENEDICTINES
During this century the Benedictine houses in many parts of Catholic Europe united themselves into congregations, usually characterized by an austerity that was due to the Tridentine reform movement.
These movements issued in the congregational system which is the present polity among Benedictines, In the German lands, where the most typical congregation was the Bursfeld Union (1446), which finally embraced over 100 monasteries throughout Germany, the system was kept on the lines of the Lateran decree and the bull Benedictina.
The Reformation and the religious wars spread havoc among the Benedictines in many parts of northern Europe; and as a consequence, in part of the rule of Joseph II.

 The Rule of St. Benedict
The roots of Benedictine spirituality are contained in this slim volume, as are guidelines for happiness and holiness (arguably identical states in the Christian tradition) which are as meaningful today as they were 1500 years ago.
For Benedictines, the vow of stability proclaims rootedness, at-homeness, that this place and this monastic family will endure.
The author, with characteristic self-effacement, called it "a little rule for beginners." Written in the sixth century for a collection of serfs, scholars, shepherds, and wealthy scions of nobility—a motley group of would-be monastics, the Rule of St. Benedict survives today as a masterpiece of spiritual wisdom.
