Anti-Semitism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The word antisemitic (antisemitischin German) was probably first used in 1860 by the Jewish scholar Moritz Steinschneider in the phrase "antisemitic prejudices" ("antisemitischen Vorurtheile").
Before the 19th century, most anti-Semitism was primarily religious in nature, based on Christian or Islamic interactions with and interpretations of Judaism.
Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.

 Antisemitism and Orthodoxt
Antisemitism was part of a wider movement of racism that intensified towards the end of the 19th century, and led to several attempts at genocide in the 20th century.
Those who say that Christianity was fundamentally antisemitic point to the Gospel according to St John, where Jesus debates not so much with the Pharisees as with "the Jews", and the Jews are made to seem the villain of the piece.
Another verse used to support the thesis that Christianity was antisemitic from the beginning is Matthew 27:27, when the crowd demand the death of Jesus.

 islam and antisemitism
Distinguishes between general hostility to Jews and mystical antisemitism which is derived from the Church's interpretation of the Jews' refusal to recognize Christ as a necessary consequence of their demonic nature.
Modern Islamic antisemitism dates from the 19th century, and is a result of the teachings of the Christian Arab minorities.
Analyzes the causes of antisemitism and its expressions in the ancient period, in Christianity and later in Islam, differentiating between religious and pseudo-scientific, racial antisemitism after 1800.

 A New Antisemitism?
Antisemitism is not a belief system, a coherent set of ideas.
What we are witnessing today is the second great mutation of antisemitism in modern times, from racial antisemitism to religious anti-Zionism (with the added premise that all Jews are Zionists).
These were attacks on Jews, their schools and places of worship.

 What Is Antisemitism?
So the antisemitic threat posed by these groups shouldn't even make us want to focus on antisemitism: they are just as well fought in the name of justice for Arabs and immigrants.
Not to be utterly risqué, they then hasten to remind us that antisemitism is nevertheless to be taken very seriously.
They will say that, with the past looming over us, even one antisemitic slur is a terrible thing, and its ugliness is not to be measured by a body count.

Antisemitism Worldwide 2003/4 - General Analysis
Intellectuals are highly critical of Israel, but reject accusations of antisemitism on the grounds that as progressive people they oppose the employment of color, religion or sex in political debate.
Egyptian Islamist scholar Muhammad `Amara, for instance, was quoted on Qatari satellite TV al-Jazira as contending that Mahathir’s statements criticized Zionism but not Judaism (al-Jazira, 2 Nov.).
It shows that the demonizing and dehumanizing of Israel has become common practice in fringe groups as well as in mainstream rhetoric and discourse.

 The Salience of Islamic Antisemitism
On the question of origins, then, Islamic antisemitism is not simply a continuation of tradition or a response to injustice.
There is a view that Islam in its very essence is antisemitic, and that the roots of the antisemitism we see today are authentically Islamic.
Like other antisemitism, it has its origins in the anti-rational ideologies of modern Europe, which have now infected the Islamic world.

I was not in agreement with the sharply antisemitic tone, but once in awhile I read arguments which gave me cause to think.
If by this experience my views with regard to antisemitism also fell to the passage of time, then this was surely the most significant transformation of all for me.
From a weak cosmopolitan I had become a fanatical antisemite.

The antisemites, as well, who make use of the texts of Isaiah and Jeremiah, e.g., to prove the constant eternal rapacity of the Jews, act very naively, and, thanks to the words of the prophets, can but establishand puerile it is the existence, in Israel, of possessors and poor.
There is no antisemitism until the Jews, having abandoned their native land, settle as immigrants in foreign countries and come into contact with natives or older settlers, whose customs, race and religion are different from those of the Hebrews.
Still the Jew is only one of the factors of antisemitism; he provokes it by his presence, but he is not the only one that determines it.

Their policies regarding antisemitism are hostage not to principle but to expedience, to their perceptions of larger political needs.
Among the Russian organizations with Internet sites is the Black Hundreds, a contemporary version of the fanatically xenophobic and antisemitic movement of late nineteenth century tsarist Russia.
Economic opportunities, concern for the future of one's children, and family reunification were the primary motivating factors as tabulated by the Jewish Agency for Israel in periodic surveys of Jews leaving the post-Soviet states for Israel.

 FORWARD : Forward Forum
During the long era of Christian antisemitism, the transnational institution of the Catholic church spread the belief that Jews as Christ-killers were a cosmic force for evil.
In its second era during the 19th and 20th centuries, antisemitism took on a secular and more racist cast, in which an international conspiracy of Jews worked against humanity.
Globalized antisemitism has become part of the substructure of prejudice of the world.

The New Anti-Semitism - article by Daniel Pipes
That's not to say that antisemitism among Christians has evaporated, but that it has distinctly less punch than does the Muslim variety.
Nearly all of them refer constantly to a battle to the death with Jews.
Muslims today are the most vibrant and explicit antisemites, and it is they who contribute most to Jew-hatred here.

It is a product of landlessness, massacres, periodic expulsion and flight, persecution by tyrants and abuse by the Church and Mosque who encouraged antisemitism to satisfy their own insecurities and political desires.

 H-ANTISEMITISM OCCASIONAL PAPERS, NO. 1M
Even fellow Jews, those who had braved the Inquisition, were apt to view them as turncoats.
The Spanish Inquisition is thus heavily imbued with geopolitical overtones, issues related to nascent Spanish central government, and the bureaucratic structure of the Roman Catholic Church.
In short, the expulsions of Jews from most of the major Medieval European states are ascribed not to antisemitism, but to church displeasure with Jewish involvement in the slave trade.

 Causes of Antisemitism
The conclusion is that while one of the causes is of international concern and can be remedied by increasing peoples' awareness, the other is under the control of the Jewish people and can be remedied from within.
Here Manfred Davidmann shows that there are two separate root causes of antisemitism, and these he describes clearly.
But one can quickly see that what is usually talked about or considered in relation to antisemitism are only side-effects and symptoms.
