Lecture: It is a Necessity of Our Earnest Times to Find Again the Path Leading to the Spirit
Through an inner necessity, spiritual science was from the very beginning pursued in the circle that afterwards obtained the name of “Anthroposophical Society”, in a different way than in the Theosophical Society.
But these stragglers could not understand it, for instance, through our anthroposophical spiritual science, for this did not, of course, exist at that time.
The year 333 after the Mystery of Golgotha, was, as it were, the year in which last stragglers of those who were still able to have a real understanding of the Mystery of Golgotha could be found in Europe.

 Golden Dawn Society - Crystalinks
At the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth century, of a secret "initiatory" society of Rosicrucian inspiration formed and was called the Golden Dawn.
The Golden Dawn, founded in 1887, was an offshoot of the English Rosicrucian Society created twenty years earlier by Robert Wentworth Little, and consisted largely of leading Freemasons.
It was in contact with similar German societies, some of whose members were later associated with Rudolf Steiner's famous anthroposophical movement and other influential sects during the pre-Nazi period.

 A Forum
(In Moscow in 1919 Lenin had founded the Third International while in the same year the League of Nations had emerged from the ideas of American President Wilson.) In December 1923 members were invited to Dornach to attend the founding of this 'International Anthroposophical Society' in conjunction with a Christmas Conference.
The first step could be that all those who have become members of the General Anthroposophical Society scrutinize their membership to see whether at the same time they acquired membership rights in the Dornach Association of this Society.
Finally he decided to take the course of integrating the Anthroposophical Society into an 'International Anthroposophical Society' by means of founding national Societies in a number of countries.

The Anthroposophical Society is to be an association of people whose will it is to nurture the life of the soul, both in the individual and in human society, on the basis of a true knowledge of the spiritual world.
The seat of the Anthroposophical Society is at the Goetheanum, whence the Executive Council shall bring to the attention of the members or groups of members what it considers to be the task of the Society.
It will endeavor to fulfill this task by making the anthroposophical spiritual science cultivated at the Goetheanum in Dornach the center of its activities, together with all that results from this for brotherhood in human relationships and for the moral and religious as well as the artistic and cultural life.

 What is threefolding?
The aim of this lecture is to throw some light on why the threefold archetype is so important in our time, both for society in general and for the Anthroposophical Society, and thereby to stimulate some enthusiasm for working with it and for it, including the threefolding of the Anthroposophical Society.
Above all perhaps, it is surely fitting for threefolding to be at the centre of the Society’s concerns in 1998 - the third repetition of 666.
As Anthroposophists we therefore first need to understand threefolding in man, as it relates to the hierarchies of the spiritual world, then see how this works out in society.

All of that was among the things lost because the conflicts that befell the society after Steiner's death in 1925 and Tomberg sought entry into the Catholic Church.

The grounds for its prohibition read as follows: "According to its historical development, the Anthroposophical Society is internationally oriented and even today continues to maintain close contacts with foreign freemasons, Jews and pacifists.
Therefore, schools which are built out of the anthroposophical world view and led by anthroposophists mean danger to true German education, particularly through the relation of the anthroposophical communities to Dornach, the international center of anthroposophy, in which Jews also play an important role, or at any rate have played until the present.
A survey of the teachers and leaders of the individual Waldorf Schools in Germany before the [Nazi] takeover indicates clearly that the Jewish impact was important in the German anthroposophical communities and schools." Prof.

Isn't the publishing of such a circular against the will of the governing committee in Dornach contrary to the expressed will of Dr. Steiner, who in an issue of the members' letter indicated an intention that the permission of the governing committee be obtained for anthroposophical activities (and to such belong indeed such anthroposophical tracts).
And perhaps the battle with what seeks to erode the severity and the purity of Rudolf Steiner's spiritually scientific method of work and push the society into the grip of psychic sensationalism--it is perhaps that that in the final analysis lies deepest at the foundation of the difficulties in the society.

Waldorf answers - Who was Rudolf Steiner?
Based on lectures that he was invited to hold in the Theosophical Library of Count and Countess Brockdorff in 1901/1902, Rudolf Steiner developed in an initial form, during the following decade, what he named an "anthroposophical spiritual science", based on the idealistic tradition in philosophy, rooted in the thinking of Aristotle, Plato, and Thomas Aquinas.
In 1923/1924, Rudolf Steiner initiated the foundation of, and started to build a general Anthroposophical Society and a School of Spiritual Science.
Steiner was 65 years old, and was the leader of the Anthroposophical Movement, which has its headquarters at Dornach, in the Alps.

The Michael Impulse - Lecture IX
This building has not only been put here externally for the use of the Anthroposophical Movement, or of the Anthroposophical Society, but just as it stands there, in all its details, it is born out of that which our movement purposes to represent before the world, spiritually and otherwise.
Up to the present time it could not be completed, it is true, and even now we can hardly predict definitely when it will be finished.
Modern civilization has so little consciousness of the mystery which underlies this, that we may say the following: For certain reasons, about which I shall perhaps speak here again, we have called this building Goetheanum, as resting upon the Goethean views of art and knowledge.

Waldorf Critics Archive 0104.2 (April, 2001, Part 2 of 2)
We've quoted Steiner ad nauseam on science; we've deconstructed Goethean science; we've argued about the application of Goethean science to simple physics like light and colour, and the beliefs of otherwise stable and conventional scientists like the physicist Arthur Zajonc, high mucky-muck of the Anthroposophical Society of America.
We've been around the block many times on what is taught as science in SWA schools, and why it's not anything at all worth teaching to children as education, but only more of the Anthroposophical supernatural mumbo-jumbo designed to inculcate irrational thinking in children.
What would be interesting to me, from the point of view of one who is tired of re-arguing the issue of SWA "science" from the scientific perspective, is to discuss -- and the two Peters suggest -- the _political_ genesis and meaning of Steiner's pseudo-scientific pronouncements.
