Jews enter the picture, along with British and American "imperialists," as the perceived main obstacle to the fulfillment of this utopian vision.

Decline of Christianity = Death of the West - Stormfront White Nationalist Community
Although the America of the 1950s was the leader of the West during the golden age of self-consciousness about Western civilization, the classical tradition was by that time almost wholly invisible in American life.
American political leaders frequently said that the United States was the heir to Western civilization and that it had a duty to defend the West against its enemies, most obviously the Communist bloc led by the Soviet Union.
American academic leaders regarded the Western tradition with respect, and courses on Western civilization were often required in American universities.

 CAIR: Writer Smears American Muslims
In his not-too-subtle smear of the American Muslim community, ("It Matters What Kind of Islam Prevails," 7/22/99) Daniel Pipes once again tries to paint Islam as a threat to America.
Pipes would probably support a Christian or Jewish leader who suggested religious faith would benefit our society or who called the United States "God's country." Change "God" to "Allah" and this admirable sentiment is portrayed as a threat to the "West's norms." Throw in an "Allahu Akbar" and you have a sure-fire xenophobic hit.
He claims American Muslims would turn this country into another Iran or Sudan and twists the words of a respected scholar like the late Ismail Al-Faruqi who is not around to defend himself.
