 Ahuramazda and Zoroastrianism
Ahuramazda: The 'wise lord', the supreme god of the Persians, whose cult was propagated by the legendary prophet Zarathustra.
Afterwards, by the favor of Ahuramazda I destroyed that sanctuary of daiva, and I made proclamation: 'The daiva shall not be worshipped!' Where previously the daiva were worshipped, there I worshipped Ahuramazda at the proper time and in the proper manner.
This new doctrine is called Zurvanism, because Angra Mainyu and Ahuramazda were seen as the sons of Zurvan, the god of time.

Ahuramazda was represented in aniconic form by the sacred fire, and was as the only god to be worshipped.
Persian Mithraism spread to the Babylonians, who assimilated Ahuramazda to Baal, Anahita to Ishtar, and Mithras to Shamash, their solar god of justice, victory and protection.
In the sixth and seventh century BCE, a vast reformation of the Persian pantheon was undertaken by Zarathustra (Zoroaster), a prophet from the kingdom of Bactria, whose legacy was the Avesta, the holy book of Zoroastrianism.

Both saviour and covenant came from the Persians, the saviour was Cyrus and the covenant was with Ahuramazda, the God of Heaven, renamed Yehouah for the Jews, whose representative on earth was the Persian king.
Ahuramazda has a Holy Spirit that sometimes seems to be him and at other times seems to be independent.
This angel is not mentioned as such in the scripture but is seen as the “Angel of the Presence”, a role that Mithras seemed to have in Persian religion, possibly accounting for Mithras replacing Ahuramazda in the Persian religion that came west.

Ahuramazda was opposed by Ahriman in the Persian religion; Osiris was opposed by Set in the Egyptian religion.
Ahuramazda and Ahriman seemed to be mirror images of some complex power and Mithras was the link.
In a hymn to Mithras in the Avesta, Ahura Mazda tells the prophet Zarathustra that when he created Mithras: "I made him as worthy of worship as myself." This accolade is given to no other Amesha Spenta.

 God - Open Encyclopedia
The cult of the solar god Aten is often cited as the earliest known example of monotheism, but even if Akhetaten's hymn to Aten praises this god as omnipotent creator, worship of other gods beside him never ceased.
The worship of polytheistic gods, on the other hand, is seen by many to predate monotheism, reaching back as far as the paleolithic.
Early examples of monotheism also include two late rigvedic hymns (10.129,130) to a Panentheistic creator god, Shri Rudram, a Vedic hymn to Rudra, an earlier aspect of Shiva, which expressed monistic theism, and is still chanted today, the Zoroastrian Ahuramazda and Chinese Shang Ti.

 Zoroastrian Cosmo-Genesis
Thus Ahuramazda performing this ceremony in the middle of the day is a very pointed reference to the event in the middle of the fourth round on this earth.
During the first 3,000 years everything proceeds by the will of Ahuramazda, followed by the second 3,000 years when an intermingling of the wills of Ahuramazda and Ahriman prevails, and then the last when the evil spirit is disabled and completely defeated.
Not only the different eras in which evolution of the duality-idea took place, have to be noted, but also the fact that different teachers used the same words and names to designate distinct ideas -- universal or personal, cosmic or psychological, mythical or allegorical.

Kurush (Cyrus) the Great (558-529 B.C.) and Darius were both stalwart champions of their religion and their inscriptions prove their humble faith in and devotion to Ahura Mazda.
They have shared the life of the people, have stood by them in their joys and in their woes, they have spoken their language, and have lived side by side with them as brothers.
This was doubtless a sign of the weakening of the ancient faith.
