Afterlife - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Another afterlife concept which is found among Hindus, Buddhists, Spiritists, and Wiccans is reincarnation, whether as humans, animals, or as spiritual beings.
The afterlife (or life after death) is a generic term referring to a continuation of existence, typically spiritual and experiential, beyond this world, or after death.
While the major monotheistic religions of the world (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and their offshoots) almost universally preach some form of mind-body dualism, many "Eastern" religions, such as the many branches of Buddhism and Taoism do not contain any such claims, and may in fact preach ideologies that are opposed to it.

 Afterlife
Thus, when someone says he or she believes in God but not in afterlife, it would seem that either they have not thought the issue through, or they don't believe in God, or the divine being in whom they believe is amoral or immoral.
In Judaism the belief in afterlife is less a leap of faith than a logical outgrowth of other Jewish beliefs.
For example, belief in the afterlife motivated the men of the Spanish Inquisition to torture innocent human beings; they believed it was morally desirable to torture people for a few days in this world until they accepted Christ, and thereby save them from the eternal torments of hell.

Judaism 101: Olam Ha-Ba: The Afterlife
The spiritual afterlife is referred to in Hebrew as Olam Ha-Ba (oh-LAHM hah-BAH), the World to Come, although this term is also used to refer to the messianic age.
It is possible for an Orthodox Jew to believe that the souls of the righteous dead go to a place similar to the Christian heaven, or that they are reincarnated through many lifetimes, or that they simply wait until the coming of the messiah, when they will be resurrected.
The resurrection of the dead will occur in the messianic age, a time referred to in Hebrew as the Olam Ha-Ba, the World to Come, but that term is also used to refer to the spiritual afterlife.

 Afterlife
Resurrection is in fact the standard view of the afterlife in all of the major theistic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
Noteworthy in this connection are Jainism, Buddhism, and non-theistic varieties of Hinduism, all of which affirm an afterlife in the form of the doctrines of karma and reincarnation.
The point is not merely that theistic religions incorporate belief in an afterlife and many persons accept the belief because of this religious teaching.

 Jewish afterlife beliefs
Because of the non-centrality of the afterlife for Judaism, this tradition has been able to entertain a wide variety of different afterlife notions throughout its history, more so than perhaps any other religion.
The core of Judaism is a covenant relationship - which is both a contractual agreement and a "marriage" of love - between Yahweh and his chosen people.
And many secular and Reform Jews continue to view themselves as part of the tradition of Judaism, without adhering to any sort of afterlife belief.

VICTOR ZAMMIT -- A Lawyer Presents the Case for the Afterlife
Catholic Church's theology about the afterlife is FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG.
I can tell you with absolute certainty that all those uninformed debunkers who are attacking the brilliant scientists who have given and are giving us objective evidence for the afterlife will one day accept the inevitable – that the afterlife exists and its consequences are huge.
With absolute certainty, I state that the afterlife exists and just like many millions across the world, my afterlife and paranormal experiences give me all the evidence I need to unqualifiedly accept the inevitability of the afterlife.

What Christian groups say about the afterlife: Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, Reincarnation...
Liberal Christians believe that the beliefs of the authors of the Bible evolved greatly over the approximately one millennia years during which the Bible was written.
Most liberals remain agnostic on the existence and nature of any form of afterlife.
Thus, there is little internal consistency in the Bible about the afterlife.

Maborosi (1995) was a powerful study of a young woman coming to terms with her husband’s suicide, Afterlife (1998) took an inventive look at life-after-death, while 2001’s Distance deals with terrorism and sacrifice.
We learn how the past of Takashi (Arata) the young man assigned to help him find a memory is linked with Ichiro's, and how this affects Shiori (Susumu Terajima), the teenage girl who also works at the centre and has fallen in love with Takashi.
There's a lot of characters, and while the stories of their lives are often fascinating, the developing Ichiro/Takashi/Shiori subplot gives the film a stronger pulse.
