Acts of Thomas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Imbedded in the Acts of Thomas at different places according to differing manuscript traditions is a Syriac hymn, The Hymn of the Pearl, (or Hymn of the Soul), a poem that gained a great deal of popularity in mainstream Christian circles.
The manuscripts end "The acts of Judas Thomas the apostle are completed, which he did in India, fulfilling the commandment of him that sent him.
The text is interrupted with the poetry of another hymn, the one that begins "Come, thou holy name of the Christ that is above every name" (2.27), a theme that was taken up in Catholic Christianity in the 13th century as the

Saint Thomas the Apostle - PATRON SAINT - a man of great faith - Saint Thomas Catholic Church, Kuantan, Malaysia
Thomas, once thought to be weaker in faith than the other apostles toiled through the grace of God more bravely, more zealously and tirelessly than them all.
Thomas did not believe the other disciples about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ: "Unless I see in His hand the wound of the nail, and place my finger into the wound in His side, I shalt not believe".
Thomas was not with them, when Jesus came and he declares that he does not believe unless he himself sees the holes that the nails made in his hand.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Apocrypha
There was a Gospel of St. Andrew, probably identical with the Gnostic "Acts of Andrew" (q.v., inf.); a Gospel of Barnabas, a Gospel of Thaddeus, a Gospel of Eve, and even one of Judas Iscariot, the last in use among the Gnostic sect of Cainites, and which glorified the traitor.
The work is a compilation and refers expressly to the "Book of Joseph Caiphas, the High-Priest", the "Gospel of the Infancy", and the "Perfect Gospel".
Accordingly, after the Ascension, "Judas Thomas" an Apostle, despatches to Edessa Thaddeus, one of the seventy Disciples, who cures the King of his disease, and preaches Christ to the assembled people.

 Land of Five Rivers
This one was to be found among the followers of Mani, the third-century Mesopotamian prophet of a gnostic religion that combined elements of Buddhism, Christianity, and Zoroastrianism.
Moreover, Gundaphorus asked Thomas to pray that he be forgiven for what he had earlier done, and that he might "become a worthy inhabiter of that dwelling" and "a servant [to] this God whom you preach." His brother joined in this entreaty.
Another fivesome, central to Buddhist thought, may lie behind the five we find in such later Chinese Buddhism, Manicheism, and some of the Thomas writings.

 The Acts of Thomas
And so saying he showed him Thomas afar off, and agreed with him for three litrae of silver unstamped, and wrote a deed of sale, saying: I, Jesus, the son of Joseph the carpenter, acknowledge that I have sold my slave, Judas by name, unto thee Abbanes, a merchant of Gundaphorus, king of the Indians.
In the Acts of Thomas, 27, the apostle, being about to baptize Gundaphorus the king of India with his brother Gad, invokes the holy name of the Christ, and among other invocations says (according to the best Greek text):
And the king was exceeding wroth, and commanded both the merchant and Judas which is called Thomas to be put in bonds and cast into prison until he should inquire and learn unto whom the king's money had been given, and so destroy both him and the merchant.

And the Lord said to him: I am not Judas, who also is Thomas; I am his brother.
And while he was thus reasoning and speaking, the Saviour appeared to him through the night, and said to him: Fear not, Thomas; go away to India, and proclaim the word; for my grace shall be with thee.
And he saw the Lord Jesus talking with the bride, and having the appearance of Judas Thomas, who shortly before had blessed them, and gone out from them; and he says to him: Didst thou not go out before them all?

But, with an election around the corner, the American people can have the final say on this question.
His message for Americans is to keep the powers in place and to trust him with these powers that he admits have been abused.
Unlike 1800, the people are given no meaningful choice.

 Acts of Thomas
While in prison, Thomas sings the "Hymn of the Pearl," a poem that gained a great deal of popularity in orthodox circles.
The book tells how the apostles drew lots to divide up the world for their missionary work, and India fell to Thomas.
Surprisingly, Thomas is the only one of the five primary Acts to have survived in its entirety—in a Syriac text from the seventh century and a Greek text from the eleventh, as well as scores of fragments.
